Ordered a takeaway for 7 mains and a soup last night. Front of house staff were kind and apologetic, but it took a lonnggg 45minutes for us to get our food. They originally told us 8:30pm to pick up our food so we hung about in the Lidl opposite for half an hour. They said they'd call us to let us know when it was ready, but they didn't call so we went back in to wait around 8:25pm. They apologised and told us it would be another 15 minutes more, so we had no choice but to wait. Whilst waiting, we could see that they only had one lady cooking all the noodle dishes with three woks on three different hobs. When we got home and finally got to eat, we found all the noodles tasted very bland; almost like they'd forgotten to add the main part of the sauce for the noodle dishes. The tom yum soup was also barely sour and was only very lightly spicy. Unfortunately contrary to our hopes, the flavours were not at all authentic. The noodles didn't taste anything like a pad thai or pad see ew should.

What a great find! We stayed near Bangor this weekend and found this absolute gem. The food, the service and the atmosphere were all incredible. One of the nicest Thai meals I've had and it was great to sit in rather than takeaway. The lad serving us was really polite and helpful when it came to food suggestions. Would highly recommend the Aroy Dee Thai Noodle Bar.

We ordered chicken wings( which was soo small, not worth the money), chicken tom yum soup( which was too watery and didn't even have chicken pieces, more looked like mushroom put in a sour water with some chilli powder), chicken curry and rice were good the fried rice (too bland, no flavours even no salt).

Service was appallingly slow considering there was one other table in other than ours on a mid week night. The food took 55 mins from ordering to arrive at the table, we were about ready to walk out by this stage.

That being said, once the food did finally arrive it was of good quality and reasonable portion size for the money.

I would have given an extra star if the staff acknowledged the extensive wait but nothing was said an no apology...

So often, Thai cuisine in the UK has been co-opted into "fusion" cuisine, usually by people who aren't even Thai. This results in artificially "oriental" flavours that don't manage to highlight the unique characteristics of each region's cuisine.

That's why I'm so pleased with Aroy Dee, this is a family-run restaurant that serves authentic Thai food. The staff are always friendly, and the...
