We chose this place to visit as it had some great reviews from previous visitors, and being new to the area we wanted to go to a nice, casual place with a great atmosphere. I admit, the atmosphere was warm and inviting - but this was mainly down to the other patrons. Unfortunately, from start to finish our service and food left a lot to be desired. For my main course I had the Yorkshire pudding wrap, which was tasteless, dry, and chewy. The chips and the gravy were fine, but I didn't get through a single bite of the beef without gristle. Following this, my partner went to order more drinks, to which he was treated poorly by staff and ignored for 5 minutes whilst the barman was chatting to punters. Whilst being served, the conversation continued between him and the other patrons and left my partner feeling very unhappy. We then ordered dessert which had obviously been left sat for a while as the majority of the ice cream was melted. My partners chocolate cake was clearly once warm but now completely cold, and my 'brookie' was chewy and bland. Throughout all of this we were left with all of our empty glasses and plates. We were also surprised to see a ladder that had been set up near to the bar to put up Christmas decorations - this was here for the few hours that we were in the place and in most other bars would be considered a safety hazard? Overall we were very displeased with our service and experience. We both understand that this isn't much more than a student/local bar, but even a glimmer of care for patrons would have been appreciated. Quite frankly, 2 stars has been generous, and most of this has come from the atmosphere, and the fact that there were at least no mistakes...
Read moreWe were seriously unimpressed with the service from the so called manager, Emma. We had reserved a table here, however knew we would be running about an hour late. We called the number well before our reservation time and spoke to a female member of staff. We were told the table could be pushed back. When we arrived, Emma told us that they had given our table away as we were an hour late. We explained we had called and spoken to a female member of staff and explained what was said. We were told that we hadn’t called. We didn’t appreciate being called liars. Then we were told there was only one female on shift, her, and we hadn’t spoken to her. Again, another lie. We were then lied to a third time when Emma started talking about the fact that although we had called the pub, we must have spoken to a booking service. When we showed her the record of the call, we were fobbed off again and told sometimes it goes though to a call centre. We then asked about the empty tables and if we could sit there. We were told they were booked and ended up leaving. We called the number back that we had called previously to see what this call centre thing was about and who should answer but Emma. The same person who answered the call when we called to explain we would be late, the sane person who told us they would hold our table and the same person who then lied to us and accused us of the ones lying. They could not be more unprofessional...
Read moreThis place is bloody brilliant. My girlfriend and I were in bangor for 2 nights and had a table booked for football yesterday. It turns out I booked it for the wrong date - a week later! Sarah was wonderfully understanding and got us the table we requested despite it being busy. Nothing was too much trouble. Jamie was absolutely fantastic, taking the time to come over and talk to us and our dog. As it was my girfriends birthday weekend, he even gave us some blow up 'stuff' and some flashing lights and orchestrated a full pub sing along of happy birthday. We have the thai green curry on Friday and the Chicken Tikka Massala on the Saturday - both were spot on.
All of the staff are super attention, service is fast and as soon as your glass is empty or your plates are clear, theyre removed.
Honestly, going here, enjoying the atmosphere and service is what made our weekend great.
What a great place and the clientele were all nice and up for a laugh too.
If you're in Bangor, go here. If you arent in Bangor, then go to Bangor and go here - you won't regret...
