My experience at Bru was incredibly frustrating and unprofessional. Despite arriving at 7:30 pm, expecting to enjoy a coffee and work until the advertised closing time of 11 pm, I was told at the counter that they decided to close early at 9 pm due to a supposed lack of customers. This decision seemed arbitrary, especially considering the café was around 60 percent full.
To add to my dissatisfaction, I noticed that Bru consistently serves coffee in paper cups rather than mugs. This choice, in my opinion, is highly inconvenient and detracts from the overall coffee shop experience.
As the clock neared 9 pm, the barista's attitude made me feel unwelcome and rushed, reaching a peak when I went to get a glass of water at 8:57 pm. The same barista informed me they were closing soon, and reluctantly provided the water only after I explicitly asked for it. This behavior, combined with the early closure, made me question their professionalism and whether they truly value their customers.
Bru is known for attracting those who enjoy working late into the evening, but this experience left me with the impression that the staff may not appreciate their jobs or their customers. If I had been aware of the early closure and the consistent use of paper cups, I would have chosen a different coffee shop. I strongly urge Bru to reconsider their operational decisions and to prioritize customer satisfaction and...
Read moreWent here with a friend on a bit of a whim for lunch. We'd seen waffles and cookie dough on the menu so wanted to try.
Lovely sweet up inside, contemporary modern with a lot of art works and wood panelling. We picked up sandwiches each at the fridge when we entered, paid for at the till and then they take it to toast for you. You've given a "buzzer" (I forget the proper name for them) so you can go sit at your table and when the buzzer goes off, go collect your order.
I had a cheese toastie and picked up a bottle of drink. Toastie was lovely, with their own recipe chilli jam which really gave off some flavour. Very thick, doorstop style bread.
Ordered again a wee while later, for a brownie cookie dough dessert. It comes in it's own serving dish. If you can't see the picture, it's warm dough, topped with brownie pieces, ice cream, choco sauce and a flake. And it was absolutely divine. For a chocolate with a rager of a sweet tooth, it was perfect. Would deffo recommend that.
Will be back again for another visit, lots of things on the menu to try and is a very nice and cosy place...
Read moreToday I headed into Bru to show my friends how great this little coffee shop is. I enjoyed the coffee and the atmosphere in the café was very cosy, the sandwiches weren’t anything special in my opinion and a meal deal might have been better. Although, I do hear that their toasties are nicer than their sandwiches! But for us, the whole experience was topped off by Joe! Joe was such a kind and helpful server to us today! There was something so kind, cheerful, and positive about him. What really stood out to us was that a newbie appeared to be asking him for assistance. He was so kind and gentle in helping to train her (having witnessed other stores in St David's train their staff in such a condescending manner, it was really refreshing to see someone guide a newbie like this). We need more people like Joe in this world! It's the small things in life sometimes we notice - and they tell a lot about a person I believe. Well done Joe! I hope to come again soon and try some of their delicious...
