we visited this evening for a girls dinner out on returning to uni for the year. the setting is gorgeous and the staff lovely, however, we left feeling a bit let down, yet very amused. it seemed like a series of unfortunate events in that everything that could go wrong, did, leading to our amusement. several other customers seemingly had the same problems as many rose from their tables throughout the evening to talk with their servers. our direct issue was that we had both ordered anchovy and olive pizzas, however only one actually arrived with olives. it took a while to flag down a member of staff and in that time we saw more and more issues arise, not to do with us so shall spare details, but added to our amusement at the time. the lack of olive situation was rectified however the other pizza seemingly had at least 2 cans of anchovies on, leading to an « anchovy ick », which i’m sure isn’t rare. there was one incident which amused us the most, a customer asking for a lemon and poppyseed slice… minus the poppyseeds. not the staff’s fault, of course, but this particular member of staff serving the customer then walked past our table and used some choice language, ending with a suicide joke, very funny at the time, as it is an understandable internal monologue that we, as hospitality workers, can relate to, but realistically, not that funny overall around wrong audiences and lacked professionalism. the series of unfortunate events ended here, and i’m sure the establishment would be absolutely wonderful on a better day, however it was problem after problem, and some of the floor staff lacked the professionalism that the venue seemed to want to deliver based upon decor and attitude of the manager, who was highly professional throughout but slightly undermined by his team. we have since discussed amongst us that we would have perhaps expected a deduction in price of the pizza that was taken away for 5 minutes and allow to go slightly cold before being returned with the previously missed olives, which leads us to deciding the...
Read moreI have been to Brewstone on four occasions and I will say this the food is excellent the chefs and cooking staff are doing a great job they really are.
However the reason why I’ve given it one star is because of multiple interactions I’ve had with staff. I was with my partner being waited on by a particular member of staff who asked if we’d like some alcoholic drinks I clearly stated no I can’t due to medication I was taking. He then quipped about how he had drunk alcohol whilst also taking medication that he shouldn’t really have mixed alcohol with. I then clearly stated no the medication is for my heart. He then left us alone.
I wish this was the end of it. We were sat next to a group of 4 women. Two of the group had stated before being waited on, we won’t drink as we’re driving. The other two of the group said they weren’t driving therefore they would have drinks. Then the same waiter comes over to them.
He asks if they’d like drinks, they say not for two of the group as they are driving however that the others would drink. He says can’t I tempt you? multiple times. Even thought the women had clearly stated that they were driving and didn’t want alcoholic drinks.
This shouldn’t have happened once let alone twice. For two completely valid reasons three people didn’t want alcoholic drinks however that wasn’t a choice that was respected.
Furthermore service is always slow we’ve waited 1 hour plus for two pizzas despite politely asking about the progress of our order - after already waiting 40 minutes. We have many times ordered drinks or puddings and waited for them only to be told 30 minutes after we’d paid that they didn’t have some of the ingredients to make the drinks or they’d ran out of that particular pudding.
The food and the pub quiz is the only reason I’ve come back however due to the constant poor service it’s just not worth it. It’s a beautiful place with beautiful food but the service just pales...
Read moreCame here today while on a short trip to Swansea for a friend's wedding. Researched vegan places and this came up.
Arrived and we were greeted by 2 wonderful members of staff. Our waitress was Crystal who throughout the evening was outstanding. Sat down in the back and had a wobbly table but we were moved to a better table after we mentioned it to Crystal.
We told crystal we were vegan and she made sure everything we ordered was vegan. We ordered the following
Olives Vegan wedges with lemon vegan mayo Fungi Pizza with vegan cheese The classic with vegan cheese
All the food arrived in good time and was very tasty. So far I consider this evening a 5 star review. We asked Crystal for the bill and included a 10% gratuity as her service was excellent throughout. So far we are having a wonderful evening.
On our exit is where I've removed 3 stars. On our exit we were asked by a waitress "have you paid?". Now we have not dealt with this waitress before and are now exiting having just paid our bill with Crystal in the back section. This waitress is about 5'2 in height, curly hair with tattoos on her arms. We are absolutely disgusted that after having just spent £38 for 2 of us on a meal someone is asking us have we paid? I mean are you serious? What an accusation to make. How can you ask paying customers have you paid? Both my pregnant wife and I are of Indian origin so not sure if that had any bearing in this situation. But I'm so furious that she would ask me have you paid? I hope you ask all your customers when they leave "have you paid?". What sort of restaurant does this. I'm furious and this member of staff is an utter disgrace. If management do care about their customers I'm happy to discuss this in more detail. I've provided proof of my visit via the photos.
Crystal was brilliant, the food was great but the evening has been ruined by this abysmal member of staff. Stop asking paying customers "have...
