Uplands Tavern — Restaurant in Wales

A horrendous experience , visited Friday afternoon with a friend it was quiet so we sat ourselves down

Within minutes we are approached by a very confrontational and pedantic male member of staff demanding we complete a raft of instructions and protocols relating to "covid-19"

Not sure if the uplands tavern are aware but all legal restrictions on social contact were lifted for outdoor spaces on the 17th of July

We had absolutely no obligation to complete anything yet we were spoken to as if we were outlaws and told it was "company policy"

Quite frankly this nonsense has gone on long enough some businesses in hospitality are demanding far far too much from customers who are simply looking to relax and have a good time

I do not go to a pub to be told i need to complete an hours worth of electronic paperwork and other nonsense just to get a drink

We left this establishment without spending a penny and i doubt we will ever return

What a wonderful way to run your business in "hospitality"

And before someone replies with " oh we are just doing what the government is telling us"

It's high time these establishments stand up for themselves ( some are ) and say no sorry it's gone...

Yesterday afternoon we phoned up and received confirmation of a table booking for later that evening… We arrived 10 mins early and we were met by a rude host, who we later found out was ‘the manager’, who basically called us liars as there was no booking under our name.

We showed the call log from the phone we called from, but this was met with further resistance and were told it would have been logged if it was true. Instead of politely being told there must have been a mistake when taking our booking, and that they were now unfortunately full, the manager was very rude and obnoxious and said “there’s the queue if you want to join it”.

The best part is, we called up not long after returning home and said “hello we have a booking but are running a bit late, will the table still be available on arrival please?” for which they took our same details and confirmed the table was in fact waiting for us.. brilliant.

John is an outstanding bartender and really made our experience at the Uplands Tavern a memorable one. Both times I've visited the bar, John has been friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. He goes above and beyond to ensure that his customers are happy and satisfied with their experience.

Not only is John a great bartender, but he also has a great personality and makes the atmosphere at the Uplands Tavern even more enjoyable. He's always up for a chat and genuinely seems to enjoy interacting with his customers.

Overall, I would highly recommend a visit to the Uplands Tavern, and specifically request to be served by John. He's a great asset to the bar and truly made our experience there...
