Was looking forward to my first visit seeing a tribute here but left feeling deflated for many reasons.
The layout is absolutley terrible as the bar is located by the main door, which means movement is difficult when it's really busy. This actually made me really anxious to use the toilets as you had to get through tonnes of drunk people pushing each other at the bar.
The bar should be located to the back and the sound booth closer to the stage. Which leads me to the sound ...
The sound was just OK and I am convinced the sound engineer couldn't hear everything be needed to so far back ... if the sound booth moved forward between the pillars then the bar could stretch across the back.
Toilets were gross with no toilet paper, and the disabled door did not seem to lock, as many people walked in on this poor guy in a wheelchair so many times ...
The biggest put off was the quality and price of drinks, which I thought was crazy for swansea. The Guinness honestly tasted like fish and thank you to the staff member who gave me a refund ... Followed by the comment "hope the lemonade is better", which felt very sarcastic!
They also wouldn't let me out the main entrance either, and had to go all the way through the crowd to the other side of the building to get out annoyingly.
Sadly this place has alot of potential but just did not feel like a "Venue" for me, but a large pub with a band on ... if you like that atmosphere, with many old drunks pretending they are rockstars then great. However, it's...
Read moreExtremely disappointed with our wedding celebration at this venue.
From start to finish, the experience was unprofessional and stressful — especially for such an important occasion.
No air conditioning in the hall: The room was boiling hot, and our guests were visibly uncomfortable. This should have been sorted or at least communicated beforehand.
Car park promises broken: We were told by the manager, Mathew, that we could use the front car park for as many cars as it could hold. On the day, we were told only 2 cars could park there and 2 in the back. Completely different from what was promised.
Buffet was not as agreed: We were promised salad and sauce — neither were provided. On top of that, Mathew tried to serve the food himself when it was supposed to be self-serve buffet. It felt like he was controlling everything rather than letting guests enjoy themselves.
No plates for the cake: When we asked for plates to serve our wedding cake, we were refused. That’s basic hospitality, and it was extremely embarrassing.
Mathew, the so-called manager, was unhelpful and dismissive throughout. He is not someone who should be managing events, especially weddings. We expected a joyful, relaxed experience — instead, we were left frustrated and disappointed.
However the bar staff's was friendly and helpful
Would not recommend this venue to anyone planning a...
Read moreThis Grand Old Dame, Donated to the people of Swansea by the World famous Dame Madame Adelina Patti, the great 19th century opera singer. Sadly it was sold off by Swansea Council to a private buyer. Which is now used to stage plays, shows and fairs, lots of live bands and tribute acts, also Private hire. The building is unique in design, with its curved roof top. and multi windows following the curvature of the building. The decor inside is quite dated, and in need of some updating. They have a bar inside selling alcohol and soft drinks The main entrance is awful and quite confusing when you first go there, with just a pull down shuttle door. It's great to see it being used, but I personally think it was donated to the people of Swansea, So by right it should still belong to us, Not sold off to the Indian restaurant next door. It sits inside the pretty Victoria Park, with its gardens, bowling green and...
