It was a normal Thursday evening and I was going to the Oyster House with my now ex girlfriend for a date we arranged to meet outside the co-op at 8:00pm. As arrived very early and rushed from work I needed to go to the loo I asked a man outside the gin and juice (looking back he was a creepy looking man) where the best toilet and toilet paper was and he said with out a doubt gin and juice as I was walking up the many, many stairs as I am afraid of lifts I heard the most beautiful sound I have ever heard I was in a trance the music hypnotised me I never felt this type of way since the good old days back in Vietnam. After dropping the kids off at work I walked through the entrance and saw a very very lankly drummer with a suspicious red tie, I thought I was hallucinating as due to the dim lighting and my poor eyesight (Vietnam incident) I thought I saw Shaun the sheep playing the saxophone and another sheep playing the keyboard. As I got a text from my now ex girlfriend I snapped back to reality but got instantly distracted by the group of 40 year old women who didn't have custody of the kids, that night and were enjoying the music a bit to much and were living up to the name gin and juice, it turned the legs to jelly so I sat down and watched the sunset on grateful universe, ordered food staff were lovey, polite and helpful not to mention the burger to chips ratio and cocktail mix were perfectly balanced as all things should be. Once I dusted off my meal and snapped my fingers, staff instantly took my plate away. Eventually I had to leave thoughts of my ex girl friend rushing through my head I tried to run from it, hide from it but destiny arrived all the same the creepy guy out side offered a soul for a soul so I went to the car park where my now ex girlfriend was and sacrificed her in exchange for front row seats to the Shaun the sheep premier definitely a good trade.
Great night out, lots of fun...
Read moreWe visited Mumbles for a few days and G&J was recommended to us by a friend in Swansea. It is pure class. The food, the wine and the service was exceptional. I would go so far as saying that this is the finest bar/ restaurant I have ever been it. The bar is on the top floor of the building and the views of the sea are stunning- even at night. They also have live music on Thursdays. A very special has to go to the staff. They were simply superb. I like my red wine from a fresh bottle as it doesn't taste so good if it's from the day before. Many places refuse this. Not the staff at G&J who were happy to open a new bottle for me- and after the first glass I decided to buy the bottle! I also like a bit of cheese with my wine. There was none on the menu but I asked anyway. Again, many places simply say 'no'- If it's not on the menu there is nothing they can do- even though you know the kitchen will have cheese! Again, this was not the case at the G&J - and the guy at the bar said he would ask the chef to see if he could make something for us. I only expected a little bit of cheese but what they produced was amazing. Three different types of cheese plus olives and fruit- and they only charged £6.50 for it. There was too much for myself and Helen but our friend from Swansea arrived and helped us finish it! Originally, we were only stopping for one drink as our friend was going to show us around the town but as we were having such a great time in such a beautiful place we stayed at G&J all evening- and that was also because of the staff. Whatever money they are on they deserve more! They were all a credit to the bar and the company itself. Hopefully we will be returning to Mumbles at the end of April and we will look forward to an evening or...
Read moreWe had brunch here today and we usually always have a good experience and staff are always friendly. However today for some reason the bartender that we had was extremely rude when I went back to slightly change our order of drinks as my mum said that her iced vanilla latte tasted very bitter and had no vanilla in it and my lemonade was a quarter way down the glass when he should have filled it up.
When I went back to ask for just some extra vanilla syrup and a bit of extra lemonade to top up my drink, he made such a fuss about it. He told me that he definitely did put vanilla syrup in and I told him my mum said that it’s too bitter so could he please just add some more and he wasn’t happy to do so and made that very evident. Then he made a point to show me the 275ml small bottles of lemonade that they have to put in their glasses when I shouldn’t need to tell him how to do his job? Even if they are only allowed to use one per glass, he should have topped it up with ice at least so that the glass wasn’t so empty but I thought that would have been obvious and I’m no bartender haha. Especially when I paid more than £4 for it.
Very unnecessary and extremely rude behaviour. His tone and attitude was completely out of order and it was very upsetting as we’ve never had this type of experience here before and the only reason I didn’t question him on his attitude is because it was my mum’s birthday and I didn’t want to make a scene for her. I didn’t get his name, but he was the only one wearing a white shirt behind the bar at 12pm today. So if a member of staff or managers is reading this, have a word with him as his behaviour was...
