A group of 28 choristers including myself from Cor Meibion Onllwyn Male Voice Choir came here for what is known to us as an afterglow which is a social gathering that involves having a few pints 🍻 including singing a few songs after one of our engagements which yesterday was a wedding in Pitton Green. Apon entering the premises we were all given such a very warm welcome from the Landlord Keith and his whole entire team of bar staff including the regular customers who was there to watch the rugby 🏉.
Although this pub doesn't serve food Keith, his wife and fellow work colleagues took the time to prepare and serve as a selection of sandwiches served with potato wedges, pork pies, cocktail sausages, sausage rolls and a bowl of mixed crisps which were all very nice and tasty.
As for the beer selection as a coniseur and expert on Real Ale craft Beers myself who also works in the hospitality industry they had five different cask ales on guest ones of course like most pubs do. They had two Oakhams Ales Citra and Inferno, Premium Bass, Courage Directors and Sharps Solitaire. On draught they had Tomos Watkins Cwrw Braf, Carling, Madri, Camden Pale Ale, Guinness and Sharps Cold River Cider. I tried four of the different cask ales including Cwrw Braf on draught out of the four cask ales I tried my favourite one was being as it was a sunny afternoon Oakhams Inferno very citrus and rather refreshing. But being a true and passionate Welsh man that I am I decided to return back to Cwrw Braf during the Wales V England game. Even members of the choir throughly enjoyed their pints of beer including Guinness.
As a reward and thank you for our wonderful singing the landlord Keith very kindly gave us two rounds of trays of Baby Guinness Shots which were absolutely delicious but delightful. I also watched him making and preparing them in which I'm very pleased to say he'd done a fantastic job on them well done Keith! He'd also before we left the premises made us shots of Penderyn Whisky which was very nice and warming.
One things for sure we'll definitely be returning to this pub again...
Read moreMy family were visiting the Mumbles for the first time this weekend Last match of the season so we went to the nearest pub to our accommodation to watch the matches and my son in law is a big Liverpool fan so wanted to watch the cup presentation Myself my two daughters and our 18 month old grandson arrived for the last hour All was going well the drinks were flowing until the presentation was just about done some old guy who props up the bar 7 nights a week came over a maliciously verbally attacked my son He was absolutely vile We were all surprised and upset by his words There is a sign on the wall that says the pub welcomes all visitors he obviously hasn’t read it We spent a lot of money putting it back into the Mumbles community Other people in the pub came up to our table apologising for his abhorrent behaviour although the bar staff remained silent What a shame to have this awful memory of our otherwise...
Read moreWe had a weekend with family in the Mumbles and decided to visit the Vic for a couple off beers to throw some darts and watch the final day of the premier league.
All was great until the final whistle when some old 70* 7 day 1 pint drinker decided it was ok to abuse my family and Son.
Whilst I understand locals may not like tourists frequenting their bars I would argue that if it wasn’t for the tourist then many of their bars and restaurants would be shut.
While we may have been a little loud/ excited at the results we were very respectful restful and put some money behind the bar.
A nice holiday tarnished by an old fossil who has nothing better to do than...
