Being aware of the current 5 star rating I will break down our visit : Pros:
Maitre D was great. Very welcoming and clear about what we needed to do.
My food: Chicken Kebab; Hunters Chicken, Lemon Meringue were all great. Tasty and moist -- not issues.
Cons:
My partners food: Mushrooms on sourdough toast. Unbelievably the sourdough had not been toasted properly and consequently the sauce from the mushrooms turned the bread into a soggy mess. This was a pretty basic error.
Main course: Beefburger and chips. She ate it however thought it was pretty bland and uninspired - I didn't try any of it but suspect it was not seasoned well.
Service:
Initially it was good, however when my partner commented to the waitress that the main course was a little bland we were then ignored by her for the rest of the evening. There was never a complaint from us - just a comment.
We subsequently had to go to the bar to request additional drinks for which the Maitre D apologised.
Drinks:
Be aware the drinks selection at this restaurant is shocking. One lager and one IPA on draught. Additionally they primarily serve Beefeater gins and other "low end' spirits for which they charge a premium. The wine is also nothing to write home about.
Overall the visit was a disappointment and we won't be returning. This is a shame as it's a huge opportunity missed. This restaurant has a genuinely captive audience and with some effort on service it could be what it should be.
One last point - if you are going to use teenage girls as waitresses at least give them some training on how to...
Read moreA lovely way to start the evening at the Cardiff International Arena, would be to take a trip to the L2 Restaurant. It allowed us to avoid the big crowds, and the earlier entry meant we did not have to wait in a long queue. The stewards were very helpful and pleasant.
The food was exceptional, and of a very decent size. I would highly recommend the beer-battered cod and chips. It was the best fish and chips I've had in a long time. The brownie and raspberry sorbet that followed was the perfect way to round off what was a very enjoyable meal. The bar has a good variety of drinks on offer and an extensive wine list.
The service was very efficient and well paced. The staff and manager at the restaurant we're very friendly and attentive. They made the experience that much better.
Overall, if you're looking for a wonderful dining experience before enjoying a show at the Cardiff International Arena look no further than the...
Read moreSuch a classy evening up in L2 Restaurant & Bar. The staff were so friendly and attentive, with quick service for food and drinks, and gave me all the information I needed for the show I was about to see. The smoked salmon pate was incredible and was so good with the beetroot chutney, and then the fish and chips were perfect, the portion sizes were decent which I find is a rarity at nice dining places nowadays. I decided to go for the earl grey crème brûlée as it looked so tempting and was 100% worth upgrading to the full 3 course meal. The actual restaurant was so classy, with a lounge area to enjoy a few drinks before heading down to the show. You’d never know such a fast paced environment was downstairs, it was such a relaxing and nice environment and can’t wait for the next show so I can come back! Thanks for the perfect start to a...
