Hate writing negative reviews don't like to have to do them but no need to be horrible or rude or spiteful so will leave my own personal honest nicest accurate review I can . Always wanted to try them my sons friends family all have but I eat healthy with odd days off but as it was mothers day it was my privilege to choose and I chose here and couldn't wait. Orderd online to collect as we live 10 minutes there and 10 minutes back walk we orderd chips double patties with bacon hash brown chicken sides and cheeses dip with milkshakes collected order and was met by one of most nicest friendliest members of staff or owner and we had dog, he called us in showed us the back outside dog friendly, he was just such a nice staff person and genuine guy cannot fault this and worth a mention . went home and wrong chips also noticed the burgers looked flat and tiny , mine looked like it been stepped on it hadn't but on first impressions was nothing like photos and checked to see burgers were wrong orderwhich they was. We messaged them was told had to choose no seasoning on order didn't see it on their didn't know but burgers were wrong so rang up and told them wrong fries wrong burgers, this is a chance to redeem themselves as its mothers day mothers day meal for me and already spoilt but Trying not to moan and just rectify it but first option was free chips next visit ? Personally poor . Second was walk back collect fresh we opted for that no need for money back as we more than happy to just have original meal so could enjoy my day off mothers day ..walked back then home and was 2 original orderd burgers massive diffrence u will see I posted photos off two burgers together to compare the mistakes but no fresh chips so had to eat my mothers day meal burgers with freezing cold chips from overc20 minutes earlier and in that time cheese sauce gone cold started getting a skin on it and going hard but did give us free chicken to compensate but the original chicken was perfect in all fairness lovely no problems there would had rather hot chips complete disaster completely ruined mothers day meal for me !!!. To replace the burgers and expected to eat them with cold chips is unnaceptable to be fair . Never mind had to go back out . While I cannot fault the niceness of staff and the foodd mix up was a mistake accident not on purpose as it happens thats life would have wrote a better review if it dealt with properly. You wouldn't take a steak off a plate in restaurant return new steak ten mins later on same plate with previous chips they would take plate away bring new meal . For me it wasn't just meal it was my mothers day and it did spoil it for me. Ruined it a bit I wouldn't go back there personally but wouldn't tell anyone else not too ..as first impressions count. But my review is more about how I feel about my experience and 3 stars for the place the cleanliness and the man staff who super approachable great friendly .unfortunately thou completely ruined mothers day even after having chance to redeem themselves once aware...chicken was awesome thou .second burger was good bacon overdone we couldn't bite into it Rock solid hoping photos prove my review not been exaggerated or milacious intent in anyway and sorry I had...
Read moreOk, so as someone who has had smoking griddle previously in Swansea, before i moved to Cardiff, I feel it is necessary to leave a review.
In Swansea, I was paying around 25-30 pounds for two burgers, cheeses sauce, chicken tenders and two chips. In Cardiff i paid £40 before an £8 discount (total £48) for the same.
I ordered the 'Smokin' Duo XL' and chose the chicken tenders, the 'just cheese' burger and the 'black and blue' burger which also came with two chocolate shakes. I ordered the cheese separately.
Below is my experience with the Cardiff branch Smoking Griddle:
Pros: Nice burgers Pleasant customer service Nice Milkshakes Free coke can with order
Cons: Burgers almost half the size and thickness compared to the ones in Swansea, with both containing less sauce, fillings and thinner burgers respectively.
Chicken tenders were low quality and expensive for what i received. In Swansea the tenders I had were larger, more of them and more succulent.
Cheese pot around 30-40% smaller than that received in Swansea.
Additional £2 paid for bacon in the cheese sauce was underwhelming and equated to about 30% of a pack of bacon from tescos.
Order took 1.5-2 hours to come. Understandably, service does get busy and the staff were helpful so this con wasn't major.
To conclude, even with the increase in food prices and location taken into account, value for money scored very low for the smoking griddle Cardiff branch, with portions being very small for £48 being spent (enough to buy food for about 8 people from a usual takeaway). I do hope this criticism helps and thank you to the...
Read moreHad a lunchtime meal and really enjoyed it. The chap taking the orders and doing the cooking was really welcoming and helpful. The food is definitely worth a try.
The menu is simple, burgers, chicken, fries, sides, and drinks. We had the two double smash cheese burger, 4 piecevchicken tenders, six mozzarella stick, and two lots of seasoned fries all freshly cooked and drinks, which came to just under £20 each, but you could go a lot cheaper and there was a lunchtime offer for £10 per person.
The chicken tenders were probably the best I could remember eating, tasty melt in the mouth chicken, then didn't taste over fried, just perfect. The burger was just burger and cheese just as the menu said it is; it needed a bit of sauce for me, which is available, and I guess if you ask, they would put on. That said, the burger was well cooked, not dripping in grease, and was a reasonable size. The chips come seasoned or unseasoned. We went seasoned and they were really nice.
The restaurant was very clean and tidy. The decor inside is well maintained, and the fake grass look really works. There is a "secret garden" in the rear, though I didn't check it out.
The entrance is street level and accessible. I didn't check...
