The Chip Box 4 — Restaurant in Wales

l always think if a place looks busy the food must be good, on this occasion it is as far from that thought as it could possibly be, so do not be fooled by people waiting outside for their orders to be completed - most likely tourists who like my self knew no better, l waited 25 minutes for the worst fish and chips l have ever had. The chips were hard, infact the plastic fork l was using to eat my meal wouldn't even go in the chips and broke trying, it seemed like they had been fried a few times, probably warmed up several times and certainly tasted like it, even tho it was all suppose to be cooked fresh, no way was it, the fish that was suppose to be cod was grey in a dark orange chewy burnt batter, and as thin as a pancake. On the whole it cost £14 for two portions, a total rip off for the quality of food they are serving at Chip Shop 4 - how this place are allowed to serve and sell food is beyond me the whole place looks dirty including the staff... l honestly do not understand all the positive reviews, do not buy it folks something fishy is a miss, my advice avoid this place...

DON'T DO IT PEOPLE. THE SYSTEM OF SERVICE, THE HYGINE ( A SCRUFFY LOOKING MEMBER OF STAFF ON THEIR BREAK CHAIN SMOKING RIGHT WHERE THE PUBLIC ARE WAITING) THIS AND STAFF ATTITUDE ALL POOR. WAITING 1 HOUR FOR WHAT YOU HOPE IS THE BEST COD"N"CHIPS EVER! ( IT WASN'T ) THE BOX WAS IMPRESSIVE BUT ONCE INSIDE? LOTS OF SALT AND VINEGAR PLEASE? (NONE) CHIPS AVERAGE, MUSHY PEAS DREADFUL, THE WORST WAS THE COD, WELL I SAY COD BUT IT WAS MOSTLY THICK BATTER WITH A VERY, VERY THIN LAYER OF WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN ANY OLD FISH! WHY DIDN'T I COMPLAIN I HEAR YOU CRY! THIS IS WHERE THE CHIP BOX SYSTEM IS SMART, THEY KNOW HAVING WAITED AGES THAT THE CUSTOMER WILL IMEDIATELY HEAD AWAY TO FIND A NICE SPOT ON THE SEA FRONT AND THAT LIKE ME AFTER FINDING THE MEAL LESS THEN IMPRESIVE WOULD BE VERY RELUCTANT TO RETURN AND WAIT ANOTHER HOUR ( TO COMPLAIN. DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE CROWDS WAITING OUTSIDE WHO ARE MOSTLY HEADING FOR A DISSAPOINTMENT. I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS TOWN BUT FORGET ANY THOUGHTS OF A DECENT TAKE AWAY FISH N CHIP MEAL FROM THE CHIP BOX. MY ADVICE? NOT WORTH THE WAIT AND...

Annoying that they are cash only. I’m not against people taking cash and will try and buy with cash whenever I can but offer card payment too! Chips were sharp edged and cooked to the point that the insides had completely disappeared. Battered sausages were the same size as cocktail sausages. Overcooked too, so much so that on my first bite a bit of batter pinged off and hit the windscreen of the car. Massively overpriced for the portion sizes and hopefully for their sake it was just an off day but I certainly won’t be wasting my time or money going back. Probably should have followed the crowd who were in the queue over on the pier waiting for fish and chips. Once again though my theory of chips shops in view of the sea being terrible has been...
