Upstairs Bar at Royal Pier — Restaurant in Wales

The restaurant experience could be better in terms of comfortability of furniture it was not very comfortable to sit in the chairs especially if you are someone who is big. Regardless this is about the food, my order was a basic starter of 4piece share meal and it was accompanied by a beer, the beer was alright but would have been better if it was offered to be served in a glass as its a restaurant not a pub. Nonetheless once my food arrived I was somewhat happy with the appearance everything was freshly hot and tasty I really enjoyed the chicken balls, so if u ever get a chance just order those. The shrimp nuggets just broke instantly didn't even hold the fork test. But the chicken balls were the star of the set. Perfectly juicy chicken coated in light batter. The restaurant does offer other things such as pasta and seafood but next time I'll try the pasta and see I was not impressed with the burger it looks very bland accompanied by basic toppings but no sauces. Which was a minus for me the reason I gave the 3 stars is there is room for improvement. I will update the review when I try the other dishes and accompany it...

The upstairs bar at the pier is normally great but on this occasion, it was just terrible in every way. The staff don't follow policies and instead pick and choose especially when it comes to ID where I've seen the same employee not ID someone who looked about 16 - before I even got in the bar area, I was approached passive aggressively by an employee who I can only assume was a supervisor who proceeded to be demanding and rude before I even got to the bar or had a chance to sit down.

When I got up to the bar, I was served by a different employee who was great and had a polite manner and was told the other employee is more senior and was unsure how I could complain due to there not being a manager around.

Overall, a disappointing experience considering it's normally great but on this occasion, it was horrible and I sincerely hope the employee gets re-trained on how to deal...

If I could give 0 stars I would… Me and my boyfriend decided to go to Aberystwyth for the weekend and we booked a table at the royal pier, it was our 5 year anniversary and we asked for a nice table however we did not get that at all. They was really pushy in us getting drinks about 1 Minute after sitting down, I asked politely if we could have a few minutes to look at the menu and then the waitress asked someone else to ask us straight after. I ordered a Medium to well done steak and we paid £18. It tasted of just fat and really rubbery.
