This chain restaurant is in a beautiful building on a lovely high street in a city with much to offer. They did eventually bring us some food.

Those are the only good things I can say.

The food was cold, the staff were sullen and unwelcoming. We arrived at 2140 on a Friday when the place closed at 2300. Yes - I get it that working in a chain restaurant probably isn’t the job of your dreams and you might be hoping to get away on a Friday, but that’s not a vibe that a service or hospitality worker should be giving to the customers or potential customers.

We were met by a scowling staff member at reception who was visibly angry when we said we were looking to eat in. We were ignored and unseated for some time until I pushed the issue by walking into the dining area and stood there until someone had to acknowledge our group. Once seated, service was slow and the staff attitude was as cold as the food when it eventually arrived.

At the time of writing, there is a lot of media coverage about businesses struggling to get staff in the correct economy, so maybe employees feel that they can just act like this in jobs they don’t even pretend to care about.

Very disappointing and we...

After ordering a click and collect I was excited to try wagamama for the first time on the recommendation of my partner for a celebratory dinner. To say I was bitterly disappointed would be an understatement. Our allocated time for pick up was 1935 and after asking twice to be shrugged off, watching people turn up after we had and leave before us with their food and a 30 minute wait we finally received our order. Staff were running wild like confused headless chickens apart from one girl with red hair who actually had something about her. Food was stone cold when we had got home apart from the ramen as "that was the dish we was waiting for to complete our order" but even with that being hot it was still nothing to shout about and the worst ramen I've ever eaten with only 3 slithers of belly pork and next to no vegetables. Safe to say I will never be returning and my partner is second guessing whether she will...

My partner and I have been here several times with our respective families and we haven’t had a negative experience once. Every occasion we have visited we have always been greeted by, served by and hosted by friendly staff who engage in good conversation above and beyond what some establishments offer. Food is always quick and tasty with no issues or problems. I have been to other Wagamamas that have had reduced menus or not been able to fulfil a full menu but this has never been the case at the Leamington one. In addition to friendly service and great food, there is also one hidden gem of a staff member who (since having small children in our family) has always gone the extra mile to entertain them on his way past and brings small props like the take away spoons to amuse them. I’d highly recommend a visit if Wagamama is your style of cuisine, we love the beef brisket ramen and...

On entering, we were asked by the barman to wait for a 'host' to show us to a table. 10 minutes later, the 'host' appeared. It transpired on entering the restaurant that it was 1/3 full at the most and we had been standing in a deserted bar area being ignored, all while a member of staff walked around on their mobile. Food and drinks arrived fairly quickly. After we'd eaten the first courses, the dishes were removed but there was no attempt to offer us dessert or drinks (at which point 13 people remained in the restaurant) so, after 10 minutes, we paid via the QR code and left. The restaurant itself has temporary hoarding meaning you can no longer look out onto the Parade and at the far end of the space was an untidy area of boxes and blue plastic. The space has clearly deteriorated and now lacks the atmosphere it once had.

I have been visiting Wagamama restaurants since they first opened and my favourite dish has always been Chilli Chicken Ramen. But never in all these years have I been servedvdry hard chicken, like wood. I highlighted this to the staff and they replaced it with exactly the same drab chicken. They politely asked if it was better and I said no, then they left me to eat it, no further action, no removal from the bill. All the other food was very nice as were the staff and the decour. But the main dish was really bad but no-one seemed to care. A restaurant this well established should now how to manage its food products and staff action. In fairness this is the only time I have cause to complain but it was really bad.

We had a really tasty meal, a good few gluten free and vegan options. Although some of them aren't on the menu i.e kimchi and vegan egg. It's a longer wait because the manager has to take your order if you have allergies. The food was all delicious, the tempeh ssambap and the miso caramel ice cream were particularly scrumptious. The drinks are all really good too, though i tend to stick to non alcoholic drinks i had to admire to beauty of the pink gin. The only reason this isn't a 5 star is because it is very loud and I've always experienced a quite long wait, to be noticed or checked in on for drinks or to pay. It's a shame that you can't order for delivery if you have allergies.
