Been here loads of times over the past 7ish years for the wonderful cakes, my favourite of which at the moment is the oreo stuffed cookie. They once also did an amazing oreo sandwich cake as a special cake of the month, which happened to be vegan but you wouldn't have known it. Massive kudos for being able to make a vegan cake that can easily pass for non-vegan! The Biscoff cake is also excellent and some of the tiffins are fab. Staff are very friendly and helpful too.
The only things that really let Hunters down are the fact that they no longer do lunch and the rubbish coffee - it's far too weak. It'd get a fifth star from me if they started serving Ue coffee (excellent local wood-roasted brand) and made it good and strong. They used to do delicious lunches a few years ago (the pesto chicken panini was lush) but they don't do lunch anymore, which is really disappointing.
The prices for the cake have also become a bit ridiculous. The cakes are amazing, but I think anything more than about £2.80 for a single piece of cake is pushing it. Hence we only go there occasionally as a treat. On my most recent visit I also noticed that they now sell bubble tea, which I found disappointing as it tarnishes the brand a bit.
Having said all that, it's still one of my favourite places to go in Witney for a treat and I'll be a customer for many more years as long as the cake...
Read moreI haven't actually visited the cafe, but I ordered cake from them to be delivered during the pandemic, so I'll be reviewing that.
Absolutely delicious cake! It arrived packaged in individual, labelled, little cardboard boxes which was very sweet. Each slice was also wrapped in grease proof paper to keep it fresh and make getting it out of the box less messy. Loved it so much that I recommended it to my mum when she wanted a treat for my dad.
They used the nationwide delivery and the cake turned up fresh and was very much enjoyed.
I only wish that they used less soya in their recipes so that my mum could enjoy some too. Currently I believe that there is only one soya free option among their cakes, which is a shame for soya allergy sufferers because this cafe really knows how to...
Read moreDelightful! My granddaughter's choice for what she terms 'the best hot chocolate in Witney, " so of course I had to honour her request. Not been here in years and was pleased at the fresher decor now and far more efficient and pleasant staff. The hot chocolate and her brownie was indeed to die for so one happy 9 year old! I enjoyed fruit tea and my friend English breakfast tea. It feels a little close together in terms of tables and you have to listen to other's conversations quite loudly but it is a small room. Will def return next time we are home and hope that you hold The Best Hot Choc award still - my grandaughter is discerning in that...
