I was excited to try this place while on holiday in the Cotswolds, looked cute from the outside, managed to find a table pretty easily, it was dog friendly which were a bonus, however the table was dirty, the service was just ok, not particularly happy or friendly as some of the other reviews suggested, but we were offered a dog treat which was nice. I had a really nice lunch - the Reuben grilled sandwich, that was lovely, but my friend had a shakshuka which usually comes with eggs that are poached in the mixture of tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, and garlic. but this had a fried egg on top and had a very strong taste of anise seed, maybe fennel, which isn't usually found in this kind of dish and perhaps should be notified on the menu like the fennel sausage roll is. when my friend mentioned it, that was met with an ok thanks response. no empathy for...

Called for breakfast weekday morning, found a free table no problem. Couldn't find a full English breakfast on the menu so ordered scrambled eggs on toast and side of mushrooms and a side of bacon, which was good. Coffee was a little too bitter for me. None of the tables were even wiped, let alone sanitised, between customers. Even the table the dog was seated at eating it's dog food from the table wasn't sanitised. One vacated table next to us wasn't even cleared the whole time that we were there. The loaves of bread on the bottom shelf of the bread rack at the front door had a good going over by various passing pooches. Being a dog owner myself I am all for dog friendly establishments, but this...

UPDATE

After a kind gesture and an apology from Rob, I have to change my review and give 5 stars. The highest value for me is the owner's efforts to correct the staff's mistakes, even though it wasn't his fault.

I love the story of the Lynwood cafe, so when we were planning our trip to the Cotswolds, we had to visit the cafe in Burford.

First impression was great, HOWEVER the foreign lady who served us was incredibly rude. Also the tables were dirty (crumbs etc.).

Such a shame as the cafe is in a lovely location and is beautiful in its own right.

FOOD We had four meals that were great, except for one...

Great spot with gooooood coffee. This may have been the best coffee I’ve had in my 2 weeks in the UK. The barista brought my buddy and I out cappuccino and flat white, set them down, and said I think you two can figure out which is which. Not in a patronizing way but in the way that says to me “I can tell you know your coffee.” Which we do. Super friendly chap with a good hand at the espresso machine. There was space available for sitting for a bit too. Very accommodating cafe. If you’re in the Cotswolds and looking for a good coffee, I’d stop in here. 10/10 would recommend.

I just wanted a bacon, mushroom and tomato sandwich for my breakfast. So I asked if that was possible. The guy said it was, so that was great. Although it was £13, it was freshly made using good quality ingredients and it was well filled - plenty of lovely bacon amd mushrooms. Also buttered, which was great great. The cherry tomatoes had been roasted and they tasted amazing with the bacon. It was a lovely breakfast and totally enjoyed sitting outside with a view over the Cotswolds in the distance.
