The lighting has a cold colour (blueish) and the bulbs are cheap so the light is constantly flashing slightly. The rice was slightly under cooked and looked 'dull' I can't think of another way to put it. Tesco microwave £1 pilau rice is better. Drinks order had to be taken twice. Conformation email wasn't clear so needed to phone up to confirm. No music playing which was actually nice as it was so busy but did change the atmosphere to be even more cold and factory like. Ladies Bathroom toilets the lights strobe even more that main lights. Glasses for tap water were very small so you had to ask many many times for water. Popadoms were well cut into quarters so you order by the basket, great idea, worked well. Meat was cooked perfectly. Veg was not excellent. Obviously some frozen veg used, not quite cooked through as cooked at same time as other fresh veg. Also gave the dish a childish cheap non Indian vibe. These were not Indian vegetables. The Merti was overly spiced through black pepper not chilli pepper again giving it more if a British food feel than Indian food. In general, food was not excellently spiced with flavours being too characature. Portion size was right. Price to quality not great. Obviously the best place around as it was so busy... But there are much better...

I called in after a long day out to grab something on the way home, my first visit to Spice Lounge. Food was served incredibly quickly and was piping hot when I got home with eat

I had poppadom, mixed starter and lamb methi. It was absolutely delicious and full of flavour. Really fabulous food and good portion. Meat was tender, sauce was full of great flavours. The little sauces and tub of onion with the poppadom was very tasty too

The restaurant looked really nice with a lovely atmosphere so I will definitely try a visit soon to eat in when I have company

The only thing I would like to politely suggest (and it isn't a criticism, all places seem to do this) is that it would be great to have a rice in a really small little tub. I can't eat a whole tub on my own but I'd like a small portion on the side but it isn't worth ordering a normal size, but would be nice to have really small tubs for single diners?

Will be back soon and looking forward to working through the menu as my mouth is watering thinking about what I ate last night. Taken me a long time to find a takeaway/restaurant with such good food,...

Extremely disappointed. We ordered this to be delivered, first of all the prices are not good, we had the Chicken Tikka and Chicken Korma, Co-ops Chicken Korma from the night before was better tasting than this. Atleast the Tikka was a tad tastier than the korma. You could taste the sauce was frozen for the korma, it still had that defrosted grainy taste, the sauce tasted like it just had a coconut sauce or base with turmeric added to change the colour, I loved coconut but it made me nauseous, I even went to the kitchen to try and add salt and other spices to it and nothing could change the bland tast. On top of that, you had to order rice or naan as an extra side, which is fine generally but not for pricing, surely one of these should be included in the price, considering it just had chicken, no potato or anything to make it hearty. As someone who comes from South Africa, where curries are a staple this was honestly so disappointing. I honestly don't know how this restaurant has a 4.6 rating, it seemed like no one cared to put effort and love into the food because it...

We visited here on a weekend stay in Burford having been recommended it by the chefs at the Bell. One of the best Indian meals we’ve had in a very long time. We had the lamb jalsha and chicken ruby, both of which were absolutely delicious. They serve Kingfisher lager by the large bottle here which is a massive plus as I tend to struggle to find it in the UK. All round really lovely meal and a must visit in you’re in the area. Our bill was £75 for 2 people including tip for starters, mains and drinks - really good value if you’re in the area.

I recently stayed in Burford for work, and Spice Lounge was the only place open for food after 9 PM. I grabbed a takeaway and was absolutely blown away by the quality of the meal. I ordered the Lamb Methi, and it was truly outstanding—rich in flavor, with tender, high-quality pieces of meat and an irresistible aroma. The next evening, I dined in, and my experience got even better. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was excellent. Spice Lounge has definitely earned a repeat visit from me!

Ate here many moons ago, perhaps a decade so was looking forward to going back anyway but wow have to say their chicken tikka naga must be up there with the best Indian dishes I’ve ever had. Beautiful spices and oozing with flavour with a fantastic mouth-coating texture - just amazing. Service was great too they had taken note of a special request in the booking request and did their utmost to deliver. Very friendly, nothing too much trouble. I will not be leaving it another ten years to return.
