There are only two rooms for overnight accommodation at the Royal Oak, both of which are accessed up an outside short metal staircase from the beer garden. The rooms are rustic rather than modern, which is what we expected. The room had a 7 ft ceiling. The room contained a large bed with comfortable pillows, two bedside tables with lamps, tea/coffee making facilities, fan, electric heater, TV, plenty of power points, iron, hairdryer, wardrobe and a good guest information folder. The ensuite bathroom had an instant electric hot water shower above a low bath. Shampoo, conditioner, body gel and body lotion were all supplied, together with two large bath towels and two hand towels. The internet was good but you had to reset if you closed it down. Breakfast in the morning was plentiful – a choice of cereals, orange juice, toast, tea, coffee and a very filling hot meal of fried egg, bacon, baked beans, tomato, sausage and mushrooms. Our hosts were very friendly and obliging. We enjoyed our stay very much.|In regard to parking, there is private parking for 4 to 5 cars at the rear of the building, accessed through Pytt’s Lane via Swan Lane from High Street as Witney Street is one-way towards High Street. From the Royal Oak, it is an easy level walk to the main street. There is also a public...

Read moreThe main positive about our stay was that the bed was fairly comfortable and the staff were friendly. There were a few problems with the room that did put a downer on our stay:||There was a bright green fire exit light on the door to our room that shone directly at the bed and made it hard to get to sleep.||The heating is connected to the pubs heating which turns off in the evening meaning our room was rather cold. There was an electric heater but this was old and small but at least we could warm our room up a little. There is also an outer door to the rooms that can't be shut meaning it's even more difficult to keep the cold up. It is also means that the cigarette smoke from the pub garden comes up into the rooms through the outer door.||The bathroom is very basic and the decor is a little old and shabby. Overall I'd say it is in need of refurbishment. Our room did not look like those pictured here on trip advisor.||The breakfast had very limited options of cereal and no fruit or yogurt etc. but the cooked breakfast was good and there were...
