As our ' local' Ember Inns' pub was closed for refurbishment we thought we'd visit ' The Bull's Head, Astley, for lunch. Rather glad we did ! Very welcoming and friendly staff. We explained that we'd not been here before etc. The lady behind the Bar explained that we needed to choose a Table ( table 30 ) , decide what we wanted from the Menu then return to the Bar to place our Food & Drinks order. From the menu I chose Lamb kofta as my Starter then Sausage & Mash for my Mains. My Husband chose Garlic bread then Gammon & Pineapple for his Mains. Within 10 minute's our Starters arrived ! Both looked very tasty and certainly tasted as good as they looked ( small portion for both but certainly enough for 2 hungry Men ). Mains course arrived in equally good time . Again , neither disappointed. Both dishes were very appealing and didn't disappoint on eating! We left ' The Bull's Head ' feeling pleasantly full bit not too stuffed. Would we return? Absolutely! Staff were friendly but not overly and the Food was a extremely good. I certainly recommend dining here for Lunch 10/10 .

Mixed feelings about this. I really wanted to like it here, it always looked lovely from the outside. We finally gave it a go before we moved out of the area, and it was a bit disappointing. They didn't have our booking, so were told to sit anywhere with no "reserved" signs. (Made online, so maybe a system bug? Shrugged it off). The menu was appealing. We went for the breaded mushrooms and calamari starters (pictured) which someone took pride in presenting, and were very tasty! Bit of a wait for anyone to come to clear those away - nobody checked how they were while we had them, either. Then the mains arrived (mixed grill, x2). These weren't worth pictures, the presentation was a bit hurried. The taste was very sub-par. The chicken tasted like it'd been pre-cooked, stored, then brought to temp in a microwave with a little water. The sausages tasted very cheap. The gammon was quite dry, and the steak - while I know rump is tough - was difficult to even cut with a steak knife, and was not quite cooked to medium rare as ordered - very much rare or even blue in parts. Two eggs on this - one over, and one under cooked. Again, no check back while we had the food, and nobody to collect plates and ask how it was, so we left. Wont be returning here, unfortunately!

I had a really nice time here last night (11/3/2024). I used to come here quite a lot when I lived in Astley but I had not been for a long time. I was in Astley last night so I thought I’d pop in for old times sake. I was so glad I did! The Bull’s Head has just has just been refurbished and looks great. It looked nice before really but they have really made an effort with the place. New furniture, decor etc. it looks really chic and cosy with candlelight in the evenings. I had a really friendly waitress and opted for lamb koftas for a starter and fish and chips for the main course. Both really good and inexpensive. I also tried the landlord ale which was nice. The Bull’s Head is easy to get to and has a large car park and there’s a bus stop nearby. It does get busy at tea time though so be mindful of that. There are lunchtime meals and children’s meals too. I definitely recommend the Bull’s Head for a nice meal out. Thanks for reading.

As a party of four we went in off chance for an evening meal. Straight away we were advised that it was a wait of approx 40 minutes for food to be served, which I appreciated. The food actually arrived around 20 minutes, so that was good. We ordered four different meals, and all arrived at the same time, so no-one was left waiting. A burger, a pasta dish, a Rib eye, and a rack of ribs, and we all agreed that each meal was really very good. All four plates were spotless. If I have one negative, it is that no wipes or finger bowl was provided with the ribs, to clean your fingers afterwards. Even cocktails are good at 2 for £7, after 5pm.
