Secluded, Fantastic, slightly upmarket feeling pub/gastropub. Renovated in recent years. Fantastic value for money. Very cosy, large menu with both typical pub and higher quality food. Big bar, loads of beers and harder stuff. Quick service. Great and friendly staff. Awesome outdoor rear areas with great shady or sunny spots. Smallish private, high quality car park to rear, with narrow entrance. Highly recommended going for lunch during a quiet day when it's not crowded.

Acquired by Manchester brewer, Joseph Holt in the late 2010s, this village pub is located by the parish church and the millennium monument. Smaller inside than it appears. It does plenty of food alongside the Holt's and sister-brewery beers. A welcome addition to the Standish drinking portfolio.

Had their firecrackers chicken. Right amount of spicy. Chicken is cooked perfectly and served in massive chunks. Service was on the medium to slow side. Portions are very massive. Overall I'm happy with the food

Mixed views on this pub. Nice and tidy exterior and well set out inside. Food was nice, I had steak and ale pie, and was well priced. It was very busy and was only 6pm. Not normally an issue but there was a large dog that was continually barking. Getting served before locals was a problem. The biggest issue was the selection of beers. There are some wonderful beers and lagers out there but they're tied to a brewery called Holts. Never heard of them and hope never to again. I had the premium Diamond lager and it was absolutely terrible. The alternatives were highly priced, middle of the road, standard selection of Bud, Stella and Corona. Won't...

Good pub and nice atmosphere. Food was rather hit and miss. Two of us ordered cheese pie which was excellent. Lamb tagine was also good. The 4th dish ordered was the sea bass with crushed potatoes peas spinach and topped with a poaced egg. It arrived without the egg or spinach but loads of peas. Complained about it and was informed the eggs had not been delivered that day and the chef had forgot to include the spinach. Landlady apologised and later brought some spinach. Surely a true chef would not serve this!! No price...

Only bitter was available on hand pump. Holts have a good range of beers and the two hoots is my preferred. Seems odd they only had one beer on. A very noisy pub for a midweek night. There was football on tv and some were watching it. The rest of the pub was full which is great for the pub but no good of you're out for a quiet pint and a chat with a friend. In the end we left early because of the noise. If could have been unusually busy because it was the week before Christmas. I'll try again in the New Year to see if it's...
