Mixed views on this pub. Nice and tidy exterior and well set out inside. Food was nice, I had steak and ale pie, and was well priced. It was very busy and was only 6pm. Not normally an issue but there was a large dog that was continually barking. Getting served before locals was a problem. The biggest issue was the selection of beers. There are some wonderful beers and lagers out there but they're tied to a brewery called Holts. Never heard of them and hope never to again. Read moreGood pub and nice atmosphere. Food was rather hit and miss. Two of us ordered cheese pie which was excellent. Lamb tagine was also good. The 4th dish ordered was the sea bass with crushed potatoes peas spinach and topped with a poaced egg. It arrived without the egg or spinach but loads of peas. Complained about it and was informed the eggs had not been delivered that day and the chef had forgot to include the spinach. Landlady apologised and later brought some spinach. Surely a true chef would not serve this!! No price...
Read moreOnly bitter was available on hand pump. Holts have a good range of beers and the two hoots is my preferred. Seems odd they only had one beer on. A very noisy pub for a midweek night. There was football on tv and some were watching it. The rest of the pub was full which is great for the pub but no good of you're out for a quiet pint and a chat with a friend.
