My husband would rate Tanoshii one star based on our experience but I think they deserve a bit more. The staff is greatly unorganized, they don’t communicate with one another, and thus service is slow and at times redundant and late. We would have one person come over after waiting forever and then moments later someone else would show up to take our order. Very strange. Two of the staff didn’t communicate well with us. One guy working there was downright offensive talking about his conspiracy theories about 9/11. He had no business talking to customers, he wasn’t our waiter and didn’t seem to know anything (e.g., how to answer a menu question, how to take our order). Have no idea what his role is but I’d advise management to keep him away from the diners. The sashimi was mixed with tuna, salmon and seabass. The seabass was horrible, the salmon was fishy but the tuna was good. Pieces weren’t sliced properly. Wouldn’t recommend the sushi. Definitely not their forte but then again I’m not sure what is. We waited a long time for the entrees. In fact they forgot mine. They served the sizzling shrimp to another table and the smoke was so overwhelming that literally everyone started coughing. They had to open the back door to let out the smoke. First time I’ve ever seen that at a restaurant and I’ve seen many sizzling plates. Obviously something went wrong. We had to ask where my meal was even though they saw I had nothing. It turned out they gave my meal to the wrong table (the one with the smoke) which again shows how unorganized they are and how non-communicative they are with one another. They obviously made mine quickly to get it out as soon as possible but the quality suffered. Expensive meals that don’t have large portion sizes to take home and don’t come with rice. Overpriced. My spouse had the crispy calamari and seabass. He said it was average. We shared the egg fried rice which was good but our young waitress didn’t understand us when we asked her to leave the soy sauce (from the sushi) on the table so we could use it for our fried rice. We sat around for a very long time after our meal was complete because no one ever came to check on us and the restaurant had cleared by that point so no excuse there. We made the mistake of ordering dessert even though we had been sitting for a good 90 minutes due to slow service. They brought our dessert long before our tea and coffee which was odd. I enjoyed the lemon sorbet and the presentation was lovely especially with their signature smoke (liquid nitrogen). My husband however wasn’t a fan of the chocolate sponge with ice cream. I liked my fresh mint tea but it arrived so late that I couldn’t finish it. We wound up being there for two hours which was far too long in very uncomfortable seats (another negative). Even when we stood to make it obvious we wanted our bill, no one came over. Definitely won’t be returning. Slow, scattered service, disappointing expensive food and uncomfortable seats.

A group of us visited Tanoshii Fusion on a Saturday night, looking forward to some tasty food and a good catch up. After being welcomed and taking our seats we started looking through the vast menu and making some choices on the drinks. The menu is split into two different halves – the first side is more Sushi based, and then the other half is filled with an array of Japanese, Thai and Chinese inspired dishes. I wouldn’t say service was slow as such, as our party were busy catching up, but it wasn’t particularly efficient either. We were in no rush, but we got in at 7pm and left after desserts at 10:40pm – so we were there for quite a while. The food however, was worth the wait. For starters I had the Chicken Goyza which were very tasty, and others in the party had Sushi and commented on how delicious and fresh it was. Mains were equally as good, and my Beef Massaman Curry was sensational. Overall, we had a very enjoyable evening, and despite the service being a little slow, it was very nice.
