Monty's Bistro — Restaurant in Wirral

Lovely meal at Monty's, very reasonable prices.

Not many people were eating (it's a bar/bistro) but it was lovely food... we had prawns to start with (delicious!) and then I had fish pie (with vegetables) while my wife had Chicken and Chorizo stew. All very tasty. Not massive portions but just enough and it meant we had room for dessert! 👍😊

To finished, I had sticky toffee pudding with ice cream which was fabulous and my better half had churros with a chocolate dipping sauce. She had so many I had to help her. 👍😁

We had a lovely time, it was very busy and noisy when we first arrived at half 7 but quietened down after 8 (happy hour is 5 - 7 so I think a lot of people had been early and then moved on).

It seems a very popular place, it has a great vibe and atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The menu says that food is ordered at the bar but the staff came and took our orders at the table.

Great experience I highly recommend. Mains are £12 or less which is great value nowadays.

My only negative note is that for a beer drinker there is no cask ale but Neck Oil is an ok alternative. Lots of lagers, wines and cocktails. Happy hour offer is two cocktails for £10 from Monday to Friday.

Oh and it's dog friendly too but we left our little trouble at home so we could eat in peace and relax.

Back this morning for a cappuccino and teacake. Lovely, great service....

Visited on sat 23rd and was extremely disappointed. It was 11am and the lunch menu did not start until midday - so we decided to order from breakfast menu. I ordered vegetarian sausages on toast and my sister had the BLT, my other sister ordered separately immediately after me at the bar till and we they confirmed our food would all come together. Unfortunately nothing could be further from the truth - my food and 1 BLT arrived and after another 5mins the coffees arrived and then nothing - my sister and Neice sat and waited for another 20mins - when we asked we were told the ticket had gotten lost and they were just preparing the food. My food was pretty dismal - £5.95 for 2 poor quality sausages on 2 pieces of toast - my sister in contrast for £6.95 had an amazing BLT which was essentially double the size of my plate with a side salad. We had finished our food before my other sister and nieces food arrived. Really disappointed and...

We waited one hour plus for our food to arrive before asking how much longer ? The reply was we're going to start preparing your food very soon, so I would estimate 90 minutes to receive our order. We asked for our money back as we had to move on and they did thankfully. We were not the only ones suffering here as the next table of 3 people received their service at different times and the food wasn't fully cooked. Not the best...
