My visit to the Wild Inn came about entirely by chance - friends had wanted to got to other bars in West Kirby but couldn't due to private parties taking place, so I joined them there. Having noticed it open in late summer I'd not thought to visit as there have been many bars & cafes which have opened & closed at that location over the years & all have tended to be only designed for the very well-heeled to be able to afford to enjoy. I couldn't quite believe that it could be a place that conjured up memories of happy times spent at The Swinging Arm in Birkenhead. Bar prices are fair, service is friendly, & having read up a bit on the place since visiting last night I now know it's the brainchild of two brothers, Liam & Sean Wilding. Older brother Liam is a master cocktail maker, whilst younger brother Sean is a master barista, so between them they can create some of the finest cocktails & coffees you'll find in the town, & not for a king's ransom! As a huge dog lover it was great to see a dog's drinking bowl on the floor. The girl serving told me customers are most welcome to bring their dogs in with them, & hers, who she showed me a photo of, which I think I'm right in recalling her saying is a Dogue de Bordeaux cross puppy, is there most of the time she is...but sadly not last night! The great tragedy for me was that my friends & I almost had the place to ourselves - it should've been heaving like the Homebrew Tap only a short walk further down Banks Road was. No, I think what I love most about The Wild Inn is that you can tell Liam & Sean have put their heart & soul into the place - with the montage of their dad's cherished record covers on the wall, the huge blue gorilla sporting gaudy lippy & earbuds mural & assorted Americana, you might be fooled you into thinking you'd stumbled into a cool backstreet bar in somewhere like Louisiana. No, the place is truly a one-off. There are places like it in Birkenhead & Liverpool, but nothing else like it in West Kirby! For me all that's missing is a pool table, but sadly there's just not the room to squeeze one in! But as a rock/bikers bar it really is a bit special, & for me that's something that's been sadly missing in the town for a very long time. Couldn't recommend the place...
Read moreWent over to West Krby today, had a walk down to the beach, as the tide was in didn't get too far out. Had a stroll around the main shopping street found a lovely friendly restaurant called Pickled Wallnut formally know as the Wild Inn. Lovely friendly staff, very clean tables and spotless restroom. Had coffee and cake, not normally a fan of Victoria sponge cake, but there's looked delicious topped with raspberries, and it didn't disappoint, best Victoria sponge I've had in years. They also serve lovely cooked meals, which I saw being brought out to other customers. Will definitely be back again next time I'm over in West Kirby. Thanks for your hospitality 🍵🍰❤ Thanks for telling me the secret of your Victoria sponge cake,...

Skibidi Saf (Jack) at The Wild Inn is hands down one of the best bartenders I’ve ever come across. From the second you walk in, Jack makes you feel welcome — like you’re a regular, even if it’s your first time. He knows his drinks inside out, and somehow always seems to recommend exactly what you’re in the mood for, even when you don’t know yourself. On top of that, his energy and genuine personality give the whole place an extra buzz. Whether you’re after a perfectly mixed cocktail or just a good chat at the bar, Jack’s your guy. Can’t...
