The Tea Terrace Restaurant & Tea Room (Woking branch) — Restaurant in Woking

So disappointing. I really wanted to love this place. It looks beautiful! Took a long time to get seated and an even longer wait to place our orders. Seemed to be extremely short staffed. Catered well for allergies on the menu however, on asking for a plain ham toastie (no butter or cheese, really not a hard thing to make!) for one of the kids, we were told it would have to be ordered from the adults menu? I have no idea why since they do a ham sandwich on the kids menu. Not particularly accommodating. We were a large group and the food took ages to arrived and then trickled out one plate at a time. Some were finished before others had even been served. We had to chase three meals which were still being cooked whilst some of our plates had already been served. Toilets were not particularly clean and had no toilet roll available in any cubicle or in the accessible loo. This was pointed out to the staff midway through the meal and loo rolls were still not replaced 45mins later. It was only when I told the staff that one of our party had had to exit the restaurant to bring the children down to the toilets at the bottom of the shopping centre that they put one roll in each cubicle! Too little too late! No apology and total refusal to offer any sort of compensation for any of the delays. Really poor customer service - total shame as it looks so lovely and could be wonderful! Don’t waste your money...

First visit at tea terrace today with my Friend & daughter. We were very disappointed with the service and the way they treated us. We waited 45mins for a cup of tea.

We orderd an afternoon tea for two, we wasn’t sure on the number of sandwiches so we ask the lady who took our order, she said she was new, so she went to Ask another member of staff, she came back a few minutes later and said we could have 4 fillings each. My friend asked for white bread & I ask for brown bread, we gave our order & my daughter had a jacket potato with cheese and beans, her potato was black. 🤮

The food wasn’t too long, my friends Food came out first, then my daughters, 15mins later I questioned where mine was. They told us that was for the two of us!

When I told them that I'd asked at the beginning what we was allowed we ordered the right amount for each of us & there was no brown bread to be seen. They told me I could have more sandwiches but it would be extra, at this point I was a little mad!

When i gave my order AGAIN! I asked if she wanted to write it down .. she just looked at me and laughed 😠

But still came back with my sandwiches made with white bread!!!

We had a very very bad experience with the incompetent staff. Firstly milk spilled by a staff and wasn't replaced. Cakes ordered forgotten to serve if we didn't follow up as we're nearly finishing our coffee was informed by the manager that the outgoing staff didn't informed the cake ordered however it was placed already in the bill. Lastly the most embarrassing part while we're about to leave we even wave and say thank you but then we're told that we didn't pay the bill. Our two friends who left earlier than us paid the bill so we had to be held to confirm the payment. We have to stay for a while to contact our friends as they're driving. The management says they don't have a record of our payments and even don't have a copy of the receipt which is frustrating on our part and very incompetent management. Eventually they found the receipt in the bin! Every one in that restaurant eating was looking at us. What an embarrassing moment considering it's the first time of my friends to eat there. I hope they'll train their staff about customer service and be competent in dealing...
