EDIT: The manager has now contacted us and explained our emails reached their junk folder which is understandable. This issue has now been resolved well above our expectations and I would be more than happy to recommend this restaurant to a friend. I have waited 3 days before filling in this feedback as my husband has sent 2 emails and I wanted to give a fair chance for a response privately, but nothing has come. We've wanted to try this restaurant for ages but with a young baby we haven't been able to, therefore when my parents said they'd look after him for my husbands birthday so we could go out it was a perfect opportunity. When we arrived we were greeted by a lovely member of staff and the waitress that looked after us was also very welcoming. When she came to take our drink order, she noticed my husbands birthday badge and said as it was his birthday he could have a free drink or dessert. As a fan of Japanese whiskey (he has a bottle at home for an occasional treat) he had been looking at these on the menu and asked if the free drink included these, she said yes, which would you like? He replied with his choice and the waitress asked "single or double?". Of course he asked for a double as it was free, who wouldn't! Our drinks came, we ordered our food, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We both commented on what amazing service and how lovely to be offered something for free. After our plates were cleared we asked for the bill, we didn't want dessert as we were going back to my parents for birthday cake. I had my purse out ready to pay, when another member of staff appeared, who we hadn't seen our entire visit, this member of staff, essentially said his colleague had made a mistake, sorry, we can only offer you a free dessert. Being a bit blindsided at this point my husband chose a dessert, which was very tasty. We paid and left. This situation left us both disappointed, we didn't enter the restaurant expecting something for free, and yes, you could argue we got a free dessert. However, we weren't in a position to argue, the restaurant is quite small with tables of other diners close by, so one wouldn't want to cause a scene. But how can someone offer something for free, allow a customer to consume it, and then say it is no longer free. I understand that mistakes happen, but it shouldn't be on the customer's part to take on an expense for a member of staffs mistake, the restaurant should take this as a loss, OR have a very clearly stated or communicated offer displayed for customers birthday. This experience definitely put a massive dampener on our visit and our afternoon out together, hence we tried to give the restaurant an opportunity to...
Read moreManeki Ramen, situated in the heart of the city of Worcester. This modern, atmospheric and delightful gem of an establishment caught myself and my partner off-guard. Immediately off of the bat, we were served by a polite young man who situated us at a table for two; without needing a reservation (we went on a midday Friday). The waitress was friendly, polite and well dressed. The restaurant is medium sized and could possibly sit perhaps 30-40 people at a time. The lighting, music and ambience that the restaurant has built, is in my opinion, some of the nicest the city offers from a restaurant.
Service was quick, yet respectful. Myself and my partner opted for the "Tonkotsu Ramen" bowl. Which came to £13 each bowl. Compared to other Japanese restaurants, this is a very reasonable price for the quality you receive.
You are presented with metal chopsticks (forks are available on request as servers politely ask if you'd require any) and when receiving your ramen bowl, a wooden broth spoon accompanies the dish. The 'Char Siu' was succulent, fatty and incredibly tender. The broth rich with umami flavours from the fats, mushrooms and spices. Spring onions bring a delightful crunch alongside bamboo shoot and ginger to help cleanse the palate. The half egg is perfectly cooked. Not overly hard but still gooey in the middle. The 'soba' style noodles they use have a firm, slightly chewy texture which I personally adore. I am unsure if they source these elsewhere or if they're made in-house. Either way; the ingredients are delicately combined to give an incredible explosion of flavour! It left me feeling adequately full, however I could easily finish another bowl if presented. Worcester has needed a restaurant such as Maneki for a very long time and I pray it stays for many years.
Maneki Ramen serves as a diamond in the rough. The delight I had from visiting for the first time remains. The flavours, even days later I remember. This restaurant is memorable, stylish, professional and classy. They deserve 5 stars throughout the board. I could not find fault. I fully recommend the establishment as they will definitely continue to receive my patronage going forward.

Read moreI came to this restaurant for fathers day with my grandparents, mum, dad and brother and was very pleasantly surprised by the setting the food and the service we had a lovely time. The outside setting was very calming relaxing and orginal my mum loved the lettice growing on the wall around us she said it looked very pretty and unique and I liked the privacy of the table having a wall around us the tables not to close together whilst still being able to see the street behind us. The sun streaming in hitting us on our backs was very pleasant whilst still being shelterd from any potential rain by the canopy above and having the option to sit in the shade which my the very pasty population of my family took. there was no loud, gratting music to make you feel tense or stopping you from hearing conversations from across the table. The service was very swift but not so much that we didnt have time to talk to one another before the meal. The food was absolutely delicious and I liked that we had the option of chosing either the Japanese food or the food from the burger restaurant despite sitting In the latter. My mum and i ordered the crispy duck whick was absolutely delicious I would strongly recommend it. It had a mouth watering sweet and salty tang and a satisfying crunch. the rest of my family ordered from the burger restaurant. My grandma had a vegetarian burger which she really liked and she'd never had a veggie burger before. And my brother dad and grandpa really enjoyed there's aswell. The chips were a creative and flavoursome snack I had I few at the reluctant courtesy of my brother the mild spicy combination of rosemary and salt was a tasty and addictive combination. Overall I would strongly recommend this reasturant it was an excellent place for a meal that is not to posh but not to casual perfect for family celebrations or just a...
