Great cafe with a super little upstairs room with dramatic sea views. Downstairs has a lovely vibe too with tasteful timber decor. The staff were really nice, welcoming and efficient. I ordered the vegan chickpea burger which I enjoyed and except it was a little on the bland side - felt like it needed a chilli kick or some other addition (maybe coriander???). The chips were great. My son loved the fish and chips which he thought had really excellent batter. Decaf coffee very good and I had a perfect five star cup of Earl grey!

Poor breakfast and questionable service. Visited here a few times for a quick coffee and that's been good but today we came for breakfast, which wasn't great. The bubble & squeek was good but the rest rubbish. Bacon was like hard leather, egg solid (crime against humanity), sausage a bit rubbery and in general a dry breakfast. Needs beans and I'd ditch the toast and jam that comes with it. On a plus side the décor is great and the location is lovely. However in the end this is the worst breakfast I've had in Worthing

Visited the Coast Café over August Bank holiday for breakfast. The café is in a great location boasting seafront views and a short walk to the town centre. The food is reasonably priced and well done. The coffee was very poor in comparison. There's plenty of seating inside and a good selection of seating outside but no shade, which could be a problem for some. The staff were very friendly and the café seems to run multiple events too.

I'm sure the food is as delicious as the pictures and fellow reviewers suggest, unfortunately, myself and my mother decided not to stay due to some abysmal and quite frankly disrespectful and rude behaviour from the female server and barman.

It started apon entry to the premises where I offered up a simple, polite "hello mate" when the barman and I made eye contact. I felt sure the waitress, coming over to take, and deliver, a coffee order, mimicked my "hello mate" in a very disrespectful and rude manner. Loud enough for the barman to here and clearly seeking a cheap laugh. It was only after we'd left that my mother confirmed to me that she had heard it too. A pity I couldn't be sure of her conduct at the time, otherwise I would have challenged this behaviour and given her a chance to apologise.

Nevertheless, not being fully sure of her indiscretion, my mother and I took our seats outside and read through the menu. We're by no means fussy eaters but my mother has an intolerance to dairy and so that made the menu quite restrictive for her, but she chose the vegetarian bap and I was happy with the eggs royal.

It started off well enough, I ordered the vegetarian bap and then proceeded to ask for the eggs royal. At this point the barman got frustrated and said "No, you can't have that, it is a breakfast item and breakfast is done, finished, finito, you need to chose something else, here". He then proceeded to point to the burgers and also suggested the baps.

The trouble I have with this exchange is that the menu wasn't very clearly laid out. Yes, the breakfast items finished at 11:45 but the various egg dishes were in a separate coloured box, leading me to believe that those choices were exempt from the 11:45 cut off. In addition, most cafes I've visited will continue to serve egg dishes through lunchtime even when the breakfast service has finished.

Whilst I accept that to the owner and employees of an establishment, this would be obvious to them, the advice I would give the barman is that it is not clear and obvious to everyone. So a courteous manner with a simple, "I'm sorry, but we're not serving that as it finishes with our breakfast service" would have been much more palletable alternative than what he actually said, and being told "I needed to choose something else".

Ultimately, I decided I didn't "need to choose something else" and I politely said, "in that case, I'll leave it for today, thanks anyway".

My mother and I then took our custom to The Cow Shed where we enjoyed some delicious food and dined in the company of employees that were friendly, polite, professional and spoke to us with the levels of respect that all people deserve.

My final word for this review is advice:

To the waitress - the next time you're set to indulge in disrespectful and rude behaviour, mimicking a customer, STOP. Think about how it would make you feel if it was done to you, and leave the comedy to the professionals. Seeking a cheap laugh at someone else's expense is not funny, it's weak, uncalled for and rather sums you up as a person if you feel that is an acceptable way to behave.

To the barman - the customer is not always right. Having worked in customer relations, I appreciate this more than most, and I clearly made a mistake by not realising the egg dishes were part of the breakfast service that had finished.

But obvious to you, is not obvious to everyone, and being told "you have to choose something else" is very poor customer service and can ultimately lead to the course of action I took which was to leave and take my custom elsewhere.

Your new customers, the people that walk in to try an new establishment, they're the ones that could become new regulars, helping your independent business thrive.

You've only one chance to make a good first impression and you're only as good as your last interaction.

The way I was treated today has effected me to the point where I felt the need to spend over a hour writing this review to satisfy myself that I have dealt with the sense of disrespectful behaviour I had...

Absolute rip-off prices for a bar. It’s a joke.

I am convinced they pretend the ‘cheaper’ IPA option on tap suddenly becomes unavailable when it gets busy, for you then have to pay for the more expensive beer. £7.95 for a pint of Blue Moon?! I bet London pints aren’t even that expensive! Also, you can tell the plastic cup they serve the beer in isn’t a full size for a pint. They clearly have an agenda to rip off anyone who visits the venue, as sneakily as they can.

To top it off, waiting in the queue to get served is a joke. 5 bar staff and you’re still waiting there for like 20 minutes. They work super slow and don’t care.

When I first visited Coast a few years back I thought it was a nice venue - now it’s gone completely down hill and I hate it.

Lastly - I was randomly pushed by a scumbag while I was waiting in the bar queue. I emailed Coast for advice on the CCTV footage so I could use it towards the assault; about 5 EMAILS later from myself, Laura finally decides to reply with a response that went nowhere. So, they also don't care about the well-being of their customers in the slightest.

Seriously...

Today I went to this café and I ordered a large hot chocolate for £3.20 and cream and marshmallows were 45p extra and I ordered a large hot chocolate with cream this ended up being £3.65 and a kids hot chocolate is £2.20 well I was going there with my school and I got given a kids hot chocolate and I said "hold on I paid £3.65 for a large hot chocolate not a kids size, can I have a large please" the women proceeded to say "I gave everyone in ur school group a small because its cheaper" but that was a lie, all my friends all got larges apart from about 5 of us and there was 27 of us in total. The man was telling everyone that they had no larges but there were large cups right infront of our faces and he was being quite loud about it . When I said I paid for a large they didn't give my money back. Also the prices are really expensive! My hot chocolate wasn't even hot it was luke warm !!!!

I wouldn't recommend coming here if you want to loose your money but if u want to pay very expensive prices then go ahead and come here but I really do not recommend this place! So I give...
