I've been in two minds whether to write this review as I can tell Sugar n Spice is loved by many, but in the spirit of constructive feedback I feel the chef will benefit. I was craving a cooked breakfast so me and my partner went to sugar n spice. At £11.50 for a full English I thought it was going to be something special. Oh how I was disappointed. Firstly the plate was sparse, with a tiny ramekin of beans and 1 cheap egg. The 2 rashers of bacon were cooked to within an inch of their life and were just about edible. The sausages were cheap and again, overcooked but edible. The mushroom was uncooked in the middle and so were the fried potatoes - my poor partner had to watch me spit them out in to a napkin while she was eating because I couldn't stomach it. The best bit about the meal was the toast... I usually wouldn't complain and didn't do so to avoid paying. But, I thought it was the right thing to do because if it was my business producing that standard of food, I would want to know. The member of staff serving me apologised and reassured me that their chef is an expert... Maybe they were having an off day, who knows? She, very kindly, only charged me for the coffee which I was grateful for. I'm all for supporting local businesses but at £11.50 I expect decent ingredients, a reasonable portion and for it to be cooked properly. Unfortunately I won't be going back in a hurry. Photo for context.

Lovely cafe with very friendly staff. Local and wonderful. Food was served speedily and tasted nice. Coffee also nice. Slightly old fashioned but that is what makes it special. Wonderful selection of cakes and quiches. Would recommend for families and people who want proper good food. Not as chic as modern coffee houses but is homely and friendly. Very spacious inside. Lovely.

Hi, I have just see a review regarding a customer being spoken to by the owner in a disrespectful way well that customer was me, I have just come on line to write my own review and I am pleased that someone else has spoken out about the way I was treated yesterday, first of all can I just say I’m not one for complaining but on this occasion I had no choice, I have food intolerances and have to be careful on what I eat so yesterday I was so hungry I went into sugar and spice and asked if they do gluten-free as I have severe food allergies I was told yes we do a roll, I said great could I please have a ham and tomato gluten free roll and the waitress said yes so my food came and I ate it, I have to say it wasn’t very nice and didn’t taste frash but I was so hungry I finished the roll, a few minutes after I came over very sick and knew that it was something I had eaten oh boy was I feeling poorly so I asked to talk to the manager/owner to find out what had gone wrong, she came over with this look on her face like she was after blood, bearing in mind I looked dreadful, she lent on the table over me a said WHAT, I said I’m sorry but I feel so poorly and I think it’s because there may of been a cross contamination of gluten in my food to which she replied NO it’s perfectly fine, I said do you have different butter or do you use the same for all the rolls and sandwiches and she said the same so I said well that must be where it’s come from and she shouted at me and said no it isn’t, now I don’t know about any of you but as a human being with an ounce of decency about them would you not look at a person and see they are really very poorly and say do you need any medical assistance but no not her she just want to row with me about it, I got up and said your attitude is disgraceful and she said it was me with the attitude, I told he to shuff the bill up her ass and I wasn’t paying and with that took my leave, as I stumbled outside I thought better of not paying because it’s not in my nature to do that so I went back in and paid the lady on the frount till who is absolutely lovely and looked scared to death of her boss, I said I’m really sorry for the upset and started to cry she held my hand and said it’s ok don’t worry, with that the owner came stomping down and the nice lady let go of my hand and took my money she look terrified of her, I’m sobbing and the owner starts to shout at me again I said can you please leave me alone I feel so poorly and just want to pay and leave she said I don’t want you back in here again I said don’t worry I won’t be coming back I also said do you not know how bad it is for someone to eat gluten that shouldn’t she just wouldn’t listen and didn’t care just continued to scream at me so with tears running down my face I walked out as I was walking out some new customers were walking in and could see I was upset and hear her screaming at me I said to them I wouldn’t bother eating in here they have made me sick and this is the apology I am getting she told me to shut up and get out she told a man to sort me out and also tried to push past another customer to confront me. I have spent the afternoon and evening yesterday and all day today sick and on my sickness tablets feeling very upset that I’m so sick and the way I was treated, no one should ever go through what I have been through the last 24 or so hours it’s not right and the owner should be ashamed of herself, so if you want to be treated like this go in but if not then do yourselves a favour and go to the coffee1 shop next door I wish I had maybe I would be feel ok now, sorry it’s a long one but I had to tell you what it was like especially after another customer heard what was going on, thanks for taking the time to read...

A little sad and depressing on entry. We sat on the tired sofa with a low table. Cushions are all very flat. Behind us was a wall divder hiding something, but the cafe feels in need of love and attention.

The menu is basic but I'm happy with that. All printed on paper on your table with specials too.

It's not clear but table service is offered. Service was so slow I went to the kiosk and was promptly told to sit back down.

Not only was the waiter service very slow, when the person took our order, which was coffee and a fryup x2, she never asked how we wanted our eggs cooked or whether we wanted a large coffee. She did offer a choice of bread.

Filter coffee is £3.05 and cappuccino is about £3.25. Coffee is not great, very dull. And very small cups.

The food arrived quickly and on large oval plates but all looked extremely sad. The beans were like sludge in a container, x2 sausages very dark, x2 crispy bacon, black pudding, one poached egg, a teaspoon of (boiled?) mushrooms and teaspoon of semi-cooked, oily potatoes and a slice of granary bread which had already been buttered (again, not offered unbuttered)

The bacon, bread and black pudding were the only tasty things on the plate. The sausages were left because they were cheap, tasteless and overcooked. The mushrooms were soggy, the potatoes greasy, egg over cooked. All in all, for £10.50 you get a far nicer experience elsewhere I'm saddened to say. No waiter asked us if everything was ok, and I think I would have been honest had they have asked.

I asked for brown sauce and it must have been the cheapest decanted bottle of sauce available from the wholesalers. It tasted as nasty as it looked. Think gloopy cinnamon.

The ambience is sad, with very little on the shelves of this once thriving farm shop cafe, it makes me angry that I wasted nearly £30 and countless calories on this food. I wanted to love it, but I know so many better places to eat on Pershore high street with better quality coffee and food for the same price. Very...
