Saturday 4th September 2021:
Gorgeous location above the River Severn near the Wide Locks into Stourport on Severn Basin. Popped in as it was a glorious sunny day and all the outside seating area with umbrellas looked inviting. The building itself is very historically attractive and we found a table outside for a quiet relaxing drink looking down onto the River Severn below. I went in to get our drinks and two portion of chips and waited for my turn to order.
This is when I was told that there was no food being served or made as they didn't have the staff due to Covid, seriously! Then to top it all, we were served my wife's wine and my pint in plastic soft glasses if you can call it this...I nearly squeezed all my ale out as the plastic pint thingy was so soft.... No other restaurant or pub we visited in Stourport on Severn served us drinks in plastic cups things...!! So disappointed and we definitely won't be back here again and we'll spread the word to the other boaters to not go or come here.
Beer and wine in thin soft plastic glasses just aren't drinks and shouldn't be used for clients who pay for their drinks and expect a professional return service from a food and drinks...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLovely setting for this unwelcoming pub. Got to the Angel pub around d 12.30 Sunday 30th July. We bought two drinks to start, with the intention of having a roast dinner. A couple before me in the queue were spoken to by I assume the manager/owner in a very rude way. Needless to say they didnāt stay. We asked if there were tables available to eat after weād had a drink the pub manager/owner said it wasnāt too busy and it wouldnāt be a problem. We had another drink before eating. We then asked the young girl working the bar if we could eat indoors as it started to rain, she replied no because we hadnāt reserved a table. We then asked could we have a table when one becomes available she asked the Chef who replied no because thereās not enough food left for us. Feeling confused we bought another drink to shelter from the rain when a family of six came in and asked if they could have a table ( they hadnāt reserved ) to which to chef replied yes. How very disappointing and unfriendly we found this place. However in being treated this way and being told thereās no food we made our way to the Old Beams pub and was greeted in a warm and friendly manner and served a hearty...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy hubby and I stayed for two nights for work. The hotel was in a beautiful location right on the river with a nice seating area to relax with a glass of wine, unfortunately they donāt serve food only on weekends which was a shame as we had to go into town to get breakfast and evening meal. The room (no 2 which has single beds) was compact but had plenty of space the bathroom was a little small and the toilet was squeezed into the corner at an odd angle but it was very clean. The room had all the things you required TV, Hairdryer, toiletries, kettle tea and coffee making and also a fridge. The beds well they were metal framed which made a terrible squeaking every time you turned over or moved which unfortunately disturbed us, rather annoying as the mattresses were comfortable and the location so peaceful you could have got a great nights sleep, so certainly couldnāt stay more than a couple of nights not in that room anyway. Overall I would certainly stay again if I could get a different room with quieter beds and a better positioned toilet. They would also benefit from supplying a breakfast...
