We were looking for a good hole in the wall restaurant that had good home made tex-mex, that was near the hockey rink. Google gave us Armando’s. The interior looked great and the food looked good when flipping through the Google Maps pictures.

When we got there I found out it was order at the register and DIY chips and salsa. With 3 kids, that turned into a pain in the rear to get everyone settled.

After reading their painfully difficult to read menu along the back wall, we finally ordered. With the drinks and everything, the total was $50. It had felt more like a taco truck than a restaurant up to this point, but I figured if the food was good, then it would be worth it.

I ordered steak tacos, and was disappointed at the dryness of the meat, and the low quality of the veggies. The kids favorite part of the meal was the rice and beans, as the hamburger had tomatoes on the burger and my son suddenly lost his appetite, and the salsa was too spicy for the toddler, who didn’t like his cheese quesadilla either (strangely enough).

Best thing we got were the chicken street tacos for my wife. Those were amazing.

They ran out of sweet tea when we were getting our drinks and never refilled it before we left. They do not bus their tables, so we had to place everything in the trash cans and clean up the table, which is no small feet with a toddler and 2 older kids running around the restaurant wanting ice cream.

It was an underwhelming experience I feel as though i overpaid for. It’s like a Taco truck pulled up to the remnants of a once popular Mexican restaurant. I could have gotten better food for the money elsewhere and had my table cleaned for me even.

Would not recommend unless you want chicken street tacos and are literally next to the restaurant stuck...

The actual food itself was amazing, just authentic, hot and fresh amazing. The cashier was very nice!!!!! The issues are I paid $65 worth of food for 5 people and had to serve myself, we all had to serve ourselves including getting our own chips and salsa at the bar, getting our own drinks and refills. Also the food all came out separate from eachother at an agonizing slow pace. Example the two fajita plates came out, 10 mins later their rice/bean sides came out/ 10 mins later the they got their tortillas. Then 10 mins later the 3rd person got his burrito. Then 20 mins later the last two of us got our menudo bowls.

So IT was very hard to watch those who had their food eat when we're starving to not be able to eat for 20 mins!

I was exhausted running back and forth to bar to get chips, salsa, drinks and refills and so on. I won't be back because if I spend $65 for people I want to relax not run back and forth and have to wait 10-20 mins for each plate and our sides as well 10 min time in between.

Again they are nice but there's a lot wrong here that needs to be corrected.

Lastly there is no tray to pile what you need from the bar to make one trip. Soo you can only take what fits in your two hands at a time which is reason for frequent frequent trips back and forth to...

I only give one star because it gives me no option to give zero stars...I am afraid this place has seen the last of me. I use to come to Armando's pretty often. I loved the Chicken Fajita burrito, but a friend and I had dinner there a few nights ago, and I must say, this place has really gone downhill. I am not even talking about the food, but the place was just filthy pretty much. First off, we went into the large dining area in the back, and immediately I noticed a very unpleasant smell like mold or mildew. We moved over to another table, and we happen to look up, and I see their roof must have some kind of leak because the ceiling has started caving in...now we know where the smell was coming from. The meal was edible, but nothing special. As we were throwing our leftovers and trash in the trash bin, I happen to notice that the metal stripping around the trash opening looks like old food caked on, gunk on mess...this place needs to temporarily shut down, get their roof and ceiling fixed, and given a very thorough cleaning. I don't even want to think what the kitchen looks like...funny, but the people that just get their food by going through the drive though window, cant really see how nasty this place is, or the smell...They will never have my...

I came in a little over 30 minutes before closing. I understand the want to hurry and get home as I have worked in restaurants for years but what I wanted was so simple and what I got was so complicated. I asked for a 1/2 order of asada fries, no asada, with chicken on the side. Not only was I almost charged $20 for an $11 order - the chicken wasn’t on the side. I kept asking if it was on the side, kept saying I don’t eat meat. They remade it - even the manager came to talk to me to make sure I got what I wanted. Got home & pulled lots of chunks of chicken off of the order 🥲. The picture only shows some of what I pulled off. But because of the chicken juice, even after getting as much off as possible, every bite tastes like chicken. When someone says they have a dietary restriction it is a lot more sensible to remake the messed up order instead of just pulling the restriction off. The lady threw the order on the counter and before I could say thank you she was already in the back of the restaurant. Alfredo’s is always better than Armando’s but this was definitely the last straw. $13 wasted on a meal I can’t eat.

I got a carne asada burrito and an order of street tacos. They tasted so good that I went back again the next day! The burrito was juicy and well cooked. Good size too, definitely worth it. This was my first time having street tacos and they were amazing! You get 5 in an order, which is great. I'm not a fan of corn tortillas, but I'd definitely eat these any day. Also, a squeeze of lime is just *chef kiss* The service was fast and the last working the register was accommodating and very nice. I highly recommend this place for great food. They also have a salsa bar~
