Went back to Abilene to visit family ... asked where's a good place to get a burger!! I was expecting Whataburger / Dairy Queen ...Nope!! They brought me to Gloria's...(I know, start singing Laurie Branigan or Van Morrison) We got there right around 11:30, and it's a good thing we did...ALL the locals know about it..."Let the Lunch Rush Begin!!" You walk in and walk to the back where you place your order at the counter. There are booths on each side of the walls. Tables in the center. You get your beverage cup there and fill up while you stand there ... I gotta tell you their sweet tea is brewed and sweeten just right. I think I had 4 glasses before I left. They have patty melts, hot dogs, frito pie, chicken sandwiches... but the BURGERS are what they are known for...I told her to surprise me.. 5 minutes passed, and all 3 baskets of food were ready..Hot and toasted!! My nephew and I got burgers, and sis got a patty melt. My burger was a cheese burger with jalapeños... man, it was so deeelllicccious! The bun crunching as you bit into it and the flavor of the burger ...Wow! My mouth is watering just thinking about it writing this... *snap* snap* Back to reality. If you want a place that is down to earth and not expecting anything fancy for the restaurant.. but wanting good taste for the food and a hometown feel... this is the place !!

The Cheeseburger was really good and fries weren't bad at all. The place didn't seem to be the cleanest but there was someone cleaning and looking to be disinfecting the tables. I'd like to give 5 stars but the burger was a bit greasy and for a Cheeseburger meal I paid $11 and some change, which seems a little much compared to similar places. I might visit again but probably won't be in a rush to go back. I would recommend while giving a heads up on the price, imagine buying a meal for a family of 4 or 5.

I have heard of Gloria's for a long time and finally had the time to get down there. The menu has lots of typical fast food type items only much much better. The hamburgers are fantastic and the fries are great. They are the larger steak fry type. Everything was so hot I couldn't eat it immediately which is a welcome change. They have a patty melt I can't wait to try.

Gloria's Grill is a quiet little place in the downtown area of Abilene with a homey feel. The food was pretty good (we both had taco salads), but for the portions, I felt it was a bit overpriced ($7.25 + $1.00 for a drink).

Whilst everyone was friendly, don't expect much in the way of service. You walk to the front and order your food, take your cup and get your drinks. When your food is ready, you go up to the front to pick it up.

While our food came out really fast (less than 5 minutes), other patrons who had ordered hamburgers seemed to wait quite a bit longer (10-15 minutes). However, that could be due to having had more people order burgers than expected.

Altogether, decent place for...

You wouldn’t expect great food walking in the door, as the atmosphere is lackluster, but do not let that deter you from experiencing their burgers, believe me.

-I can firmly say this is the best burger I’ve ever had.-

It came out piping hot, lots of toppings and probably a 1/2 pound patty of quality beef with a side of large crinkle fries and so far my favorite sweet tea in the area. The people were very nice and wanted to chat. They have multiple awards as well. I would like to see this featured on a TV show. I will be spreading my perfect experience by word of mouth to...
