My wife, Son, and I were visiting from out of town, craving Mexican food and wanted to try something new.
After a quick Google search I found Miguel's and after 5 star review after 5 star review we decided to give it a shot.
Conveniently located less than a mile away from our motel, our experience was starting off on a high note.
The parking lot was packed with cars but was big enough to not worry about parking and I was able to find a spot almost immediately.
The outside decor has somewhat of a chain restaurant vibe, which isn't bad but I'm not a big fan of chain restaurants and even with that look Miguel's still had it's own unique style.
We were sat almost immediately and the host brought us our chips and salsa.
The chips are cantina style (thin and crispy) the salsa wasn't my favorite as it had a citrusy/black pepper taste, by like my wife pointed out, ot grows on you the more you eat it.
Our server Mia was very friendly and accommodating.
We told her it was our first there and she made great suggestions on what to order.
It took us awhile to decide and she was very patient with us which we appreciate.
To drink got the swirl and let me tell you if you don't drink much or often, one is all you need. I believe they make their own sweet and sour fornther margaritas or something was house made, regardless it was delicuous and strong.
Based on Mia's suggestion we tried a crispy, cheesy shell or their version of the Mexican pizza (bbq chicken) and a trio which had two brisket soft tacos and a enchilada of our choice, we went the spinach, mushroom, and avocado topped with queso and served with rice and beans.
The pizza which sounded simple was delicious and melted cheese on top was perfect.
The brisket tacos were amazing on their homemade flour tortillas and the spinach enchilada was the best I've ever had, but the rice might've been the best bite of food the night..
Just when we thought our evening couldn't get any better, something happened that's never happened before to my wife and I happened.
Our server Mia gave us a compliment said one of the nicest things ever to me and my wife to my wife.
If you're ever in Abilene make sure to stop by Miguel's and...
Read moreI need to give thanks where that is is due... I had a really rough day and got some very worrisome news. My husband decided to take me out to help cheer me up and help me relax. He decided on Miguel's and so off we went our dinner started by me being barely able to walk inside. As we waited to be seated, our hostess, Bailey (hope I spelled it correctly), notice my predicament and requested to seat us at a closer table. This was absolutely amazing and she deserves a raise for taking care to observe and accommodate the customers needs. She made me feel like I mattered and it was extremely needed after my day. Then we got to our seat and we're served by Jay (again, I am praying I spelled it correctly. This man was a total delight. He was extremely helpful while trying to decide what to order. He made suggestions and answered our million questions. He was on ball and point and had such amazing attitude. He never stopped smiling and he was so accommodating. I truly think he should have a pay raise. You can not find this kind of young man with customer service like this young man has. Our food was the best. We both really enjoyed our meal and complimentary snacks. When we were about to leave I asked to speak to a manager. Just as quick as possible she arrived. Kelly (again I am praying I spelled it correctly) , the manager appeared in a very pleasant tone and attitude. She greated us with such professionalism and kind demeanor. As I expressed my gratitude for it being our best visit yet, she explained who the staff we were excited about was and informed us we could request our server anytime to see if he was available. This kind of management is rare as well. This entire trip deserves a raise and the highest praise I as a customer and the company can provide. There are no words to express my gratitude for these three after the day and news I had received just earlier that day. I pray you have the same experience on your next trip as we experienced for ours. Thank you to the 3 of you for making my night so much brighter...
Read moreWow!! I am so happy to share this incredible experience. First so much praise is needed for our amazing server, Yasmin and the manager (I wish I got their name). To start, we were traveling with 2 large dogs and the restaurant was kind enough to let us sit outside even though we were the only table outside. After all, it is winter in Texas at night, even if it’s 70 degrees outside. For other dog owners, there is a gate to the outside dining that makes it very easy to bring the pups directly to the table from your car instead of through the indoor dining area. Our server, Yasmin immediately came to take our drinks order and we ordered appetizers. Everything was ready pretty fast and Yasmin even came to check on us before the appetizers were ready. We ordered the guacamole, queso, and then brisket tips and combo enchiladas for our meals. Again the food was served in a very timely manner and Yasmin checked on us many times. I was prepared to kind of be forgotten about being a lone table outside and quite a bit area from the rest of her tables but Yasmin truly went above and beyond. She is one of the best servers I have ever had the pleasure of dining with. The food is incredible and I cannot recommend it enough. Yasmin and the kitchen staff were super accommodating with our weird requests and unique changes to the menu items. The restaurant environment was clean and really nice and fun to be in. Yasmin had a very positive attitude the entire night and she made Miguel’s a go to spot for us and we can’t wait to return. We did get a chance to talk to the manager about how amazing the service was and they were incredibly kind to bring a brisket treat out for each of our dogs. Again, I really cannot recommend this place enough. If you are a local or just passing through Miguel’s should be on your...
