I want to start by mentioning that I am not a local, so my perspective on the Beehive may be different from that of the locals. I do travel all over and have had the pleasure of dining at some amazing spots. However, I appreciate the support that the locals give to this small local business. When we arrived for dinner on Valentine's Day, there was a small line already formed outside the building. Since it was a special occasion, we decided to sit at the bar so that we wouldn't take up space that couples celebrating Valentine's Day might want. The atmosphere at the Beehive is a bit chaotic. The decor is a mishmash of styles that doesn't quite come together to create a cohesive experience. The dining areas are divided by tall walls, and the carpet has an unpleasant odor. The bar is dimly lit and covered in dollar bills on the walls. The menus were cute, covered in old Abilene newspaper headlines, but unfortunately, they were dirty and stuck together, as they were not printed on cleanable paper. The menu at the Beehive is similar to that of a regular steakhouse. The drinks were average, but with some additional bartending training, they have the potential to improve. We ordered a ribeye and a filet with baked potatoes and salad. The Caesar and house salads lacked both presentation and flavor. The steaks were cooked correctly, but they were also lacking in flavor. On a positive note, the service we received was prompt and professional.

I left this restaurant feeling thoroughly disappointed. From start to finish, the service lacked attention to detail and basic courtesy. Bread, something advertised on their own website, was never offered until I had to ask for it twice. This should have been a standard part of the dining experience, not something I had to chase down. What was even more surprising was the response I received when I requested a side of mashed potatoes, which is both pictured and referenced online. Instead of a polite clarification or alternative, I was given a flat “no,” with no explanation. This abruptness and disregard for guest experience is unacceptable. For a restaurant charging premium prices, there should be a matching level of service, professionalism, and consistency with what is marketed. Unfortunately, none of that was delivered. I will not be returning and would not recommend this place to others. The overall experience simply did not reflect the standards they claim to uphold.

This restaurant in Downtown Abilene, TX located on the corner of Cedar St. and N.5th is amazing! The building and indoor decor are gorgeous and very classy. The food I had was so good! I was first brought a richly-colored green salad with bright red Roma tomato slices, slivers of purple onions, and drizzled with a tangy balsamic vinaigrette. Once I finished the salad, I was brought the entree which included a beautifully grilled split chicken breast that was perfectly seasoned, a baked sweet potato, and steamed fresh green beans and cauliflower. I also had iced tea and water with my meal. Everything was so fresh and healthy. Every bit of it was delicious! I would definitely recommend visiting this restaurant. It is also a great place for a romantic dinner. I definitely give this restaurant an A+!

The staff was very friendly. We were traveling through and this place was highly rated. It was very clean and I liked the atmosphere. The food was hit and miss. The grilled veggies were great. The oysters were gritty and tasted very fishy. The kids grilled cheese is not what a typical grilled cheese would be, my kids hated the white cheese used and wouldn't eat it. I tasted it and didn't like it either. The chicken strips are a better kid choice. The burger looked amazing, but when it first came out it was raw. Like blood raw. They re-cooked and it was great! The manager should've come by and apologized for serving a raw burger... But did not. The brisket stuffed avocado was excellent!!! I would absolutely go back again just for that! I would just be mindful of the other things we order.
