Rick & Carolyn's Burgers & Fries — Restaurant in Abilene

Went to Rick and Carolyn's on Pioneer for lunch. We had been to the one on Buffalo Gap Rd. many times in the past and always had very good service, so thought we would give the one on Pioneer a try since it was closer to my work. If I could give no stars, I would....

To start with, the woman taking the orders looked as if she would rather lay her face on the hot grill than be there taking our order. After we ordered and paid, it took over 45 minutes for us to finally get our food, leaving me with about 5 minutes to eat before I had to leave to get back to work within my lunch hour.

The woman who appeared to be responsible for delivering the food to the tables must have thought it was social hour, not work time. She was more concerned with chit-chatting with the guests (more than customer service discussions), discussing with someone about what her new living arrangements needed to be because she didn't want to live in an apartment any longer, and constantly refilling her drink. On top of that, while filling in for the woman who took orders, she left a line of people waiting while she had a full conversation with a woman, wrote down her contact information, and described the size and location of a house she would be interested in.

Out of the 5 meals ordered by us, only 2 were correct. One of the "big bacon cheeseburgers" we ordered had a two inch piece of burned bacon on it. Another of our orders came out with fries instead of the waffle fries we had paid extra for. The worst were the chicken tenders we ordered for my daughter, which were completely raw inside. LUCKILY, she had torn one in half first instead of biting into it. When I took them back to the counter, the woman responsible for delivering the food was standing there. I set the basket down in front of her with the chicken open and clearly raw, she looked at it, and then asked me "is there a problem with it?" After I pointed out what was clearly obvious she offered to have it redone.

The manager came out at that point and gave me a refund for the chicken tender meal and apologized for the raw chicken, stating that they had a new cook and that was the reason for such a delay and the under-cooked food. It was very nice of her to offer the apology, but they have much larger problems, starting with their incredible lack of customer service. The gentleman at the table next to us suffered the same unfortunate experience we did. Waited 45 minutes for a jalapeno bacon burger and when it came out, it was completely wrong. I don't come in often because I moved out of town, but when I do, I'm bringing my mom and stepdad dinner. I used to love eating here, and the food is actually pretty good. However, the staff is so rude and inattentive. My mother and I have life-threatening food allergies, and my mom is a regular customer. Her order rarely deviates, so when I picked it up and checked it for onions, which will kill her with the expectation of zero issues, the burger was covered in them. I returned to have the order remade, and the cashier rolled her eyes. The cook pretended to remake the burger, and my mother was left with food she could not eat after finding tiny chunks of onion in it before digging in. If she had not checked her food for little hidden pieces of onions, she would be dead. This place has gone so far downhill over the years, which sealed the deal on me never choosing to come here again. Epic...

The manager Connie(was awesome)and was going to replace an order that I got and when I got home was completely cold and called back to let her know. I get there and a big fat man started telling me that he wasn't going to remake the order and said I'll just refund your money. I told him I would of been happy just redoing the order but he said no and gave me my $$ by slamming the cash register around. I am so glad he did because I went to another place and that was the best, most amazing burger🍔 EVER!!!!!!

Thank you for your rude service regardless of giving me my money back. You have lost a customer forever and will tell everyone not to eat there!! The other places burger was 10 times better than this places food!!
