Sonic Drive-In — Restaurant in Abilene

Their fries are INEDIBLE. My dog, who eats just about anything, literally turns her nose up at their fries. I don't know what happened, but about a year ago, they became these horrible, stale, cold, hard things. Just awful. As many others have attested to, order inaccuracies are a frequent occurrence at this Sonic. I have quite a few severe allergies, mustard being one, and I have unfortunately had more than one burger made with mustard. Biting into and having to address my reaction is an ordeal every time. I am honestly afraid to eat here some days. I have given up trying to have my food corrected because it happens so often, which is pathetic. The other day, we bought three Sonic Blasts. All three had toppings in the top half and nothing but plain ice cream in the bottom. That was a first for us, but it happened with all three so I'm not sure that it's a fluke thing. Abilene prides itself on so many things, but food is clearly not one of them. Sadly, Sonic is not the only restaurant with subpar food. The service is friendly but highly inaccurate. Anymore I just get a burger (doube checked for safety) and skip the fries because I always have to trash them anyway. Also, they randomly shut down the stalls which is inconvenient. Not a lot of options in town, so I guess they don't worry too much...

We've had bad luck with Sonic restaurants in New York but thought we'd give the one here a try for breakfast. First we pulled into one of the stalls to try and order, but no one acknowledged us when we pressed the button. So we went to the drive thru and there was only one car ahead of us. It still took several minutes for anyone to acknowledge we were there. When we tried to order coffee and a breakfast sandwich, the employee asked us several times to repeat the order. We did at least 4 times, then didn't hear anything else. We were waiting for confirmation to make sure she heard us. Eventually the employee rudely asked if there was anything else we wanted, like we were a nuisance and informed us it would be a 10 minute wait. We said forget it and drove off. Sonic, get your stuff together and teach your employees common courtesy. We likely would have waited for the order, even though it wasn't busy, if it wasn't for the...

Sonic has always been on of my favorites. We even knew the original owners and still know a number of franchise owners. The Abilene, Kansas is one, if not the worst as yo accuracy I have ever been to. The carhops are generally always nice and kind but the food is very poor. In the last 10 times we have been here, they have yet to get an order correct. Chili cheese tots with less than a bite of chili or cheese, but the cost is the same. Order double cheese burgers and get single, or missing food altogether. When a complaint is made mgmt appears peeved. Charges wrong and an unwillingness to correct it. And on and on. The area is clean, but I would no recommend this location to anyone. We may stop here once every couple of months but would frequent as we used to except for the poor quality. Oh, today's popcorn chicken was do hard it's going to be dog food. Don't go here! Salina is much better as is...
