Every year on the drive home from Florida we stop in Ada for dinner. Last year we came here, were sat on the patio and forgotten about before leaving and going to Applebees. This year we stopped again hoping service would be better and it was just an off day. That was NOT the case. Came in to be sat at a dirty table the hostess had to wipe off, which wasn’t a big deal. All of the tables around us were dirty for our whole stay, tables that were dirty before we even came in The waitresses in the sections would walk by, pick up a couple cups and disappear in the back. When we got out initial batch of rolls I guess they had been sitting in a warmer for a while as the butter was melted. I thought it was how the butter was supposed to be until the waitress brought a second batch of rolls and the butter was normal. Once we ordered our food, our salads came and our waitress disappeared yet again and we had to get up to find our own silverware. The eggs in the salads were frozen. We waited over 30 minutes for the main courses, the restaurant wasn’t busy even though there was a live band playing outside. The waitress did not ask us to cut into our steaks to make sure they were cooked properly, the meat was SO BLAND, no salt or pepper, and I’ve never had a bad filet, but that was absolutely terrible. My loaded fries had sat in a warmer for a substantial amount of time because the cheese wasn’t freshly melted as it all stuck to each other and not the fries. My husband’s steak was also unseasoned, and not juicy and he orders his medium. He had to use steak sauce and didn’t even finish it. As he says, “A good steak doesn’t need sauce”. These were SO BAD, also his baked potato was old and inedible. Not fluffy and warm, he couldn’t use his fork on it because it was so tough. None of our drinks ever got refilled, and after waiting so long for a check we went to the hostess stand to pay. When informing the staff on how our experience was and how the food was inedible, the waitress said she didn’t put the drinks on the tab. Like $8 was going to make up for the $81 worth of food I had to pay for that wasn’t eaten. There were people waiting at the front of the restaurant to be seated when there were a plethora of empty tables in the restaurant. When walking to my vehicle after the experience there were 5 or 6 staff members out back hanging out which could explain why the waitress kept disappearing. What a warm welcome back to...
Read moreFirst time visiting this Santa Fe restaurant in Ada, OK., (traveling for work) moderately busy for a Friday evening, 6:00 pm-ish. Middle TN., where we are from, used to have these steak houses several years ago and the food was really good, so we thought we would treat ourselves to an old favorite. OMGosh, were we WRONG. Food was horrible !! The staff was very friendly, the atmosphere was typical Roadhouse style, nice outside patio area to dine, weather permitting. I ordered the 6oz sirloin, pink in the middle, not bloody, baked spud, butter only and a salad with no tomatoes. My husband ordered a cup of tortilla soup and a steak salad, cooked medium, trying his best to eat better since recently diagnosed as a diabetic. My salad arrived with diced tomatoes, which I ordered without. Most times I would have sent back, but I just picked them off. The tortilla soup arrived a few minutes after, soup spilled all over the sides and on the saucer it was delivered on. Ok presentation or special ordered salads not their strong point. Our waitress should have noticed the tomatoes on my salad and the messy cup of soup and fixed the issues before divering to the table. ( training issue ??) She did write down our order and read it back to us, so we felt she had it going on. The dinners arrived not long after our soup and salads. Everything smelled and looked good. My husband caved and put a cutlet of his steak on a roll and tried to eat it. I noticed him struggling to bite his steak...unchewable he said as he reached for his napkin. Ok, 1 bite not so good, and we are talking about a man who eats ribeyes with (fatty) marbling. My steak was ok, a little tough, but at least it was not mooing at me. We continued eating, I gave him some of my steak as I always do. We finished our dinners and got a small to go box for the steak that my husband did not eat...which is VERY unusual. We paid and left. While in the truck, my husband confesses to me that his steak was the worse steak he had ever had. I knew something was up when he did not finish his steak. He knew that I would have sent his steak back, especially, as it is so expensive to eat out these days. He is not a complainer, but if your food is not good, let's get it fixed. Let's just say that it was our turn to get a bad steak, shame on us for not sending it back, but...our Boston Terrier...
Read moreI really don’t like to complain about restaurants and cooking but I will tonight. I haven’t gotten this mad in a long time. We went to the Santa Fe restaurant in Ada and sat there for an hour before being placed at a table. it’s a busy night. We had 11 people, 4 being little kids. So several 6 and under parties were sat down before us. Understandable right? At last we get a table. Waiter was very good. Never ran out of drinks but here’s what I’m mad about. After waiting another hour for food. Yes we ordered steaks, shrimp, ribs combos. We expected some wait. Kids ordered cheeseburgers. Only 3 plates show up. Medium well steak is rare, broccoli looks like it was just taken out of icebox, not cooked. Cold mashed potatoes with gravy. 3 plates out of 11. 20 minutes later, 4 more plates show up. Medium rare steak is burned, no potatoes with gravy, fried potatoes are greasy and cold, coleslaw is warmer than any other food and it’s not supposed to be. Ribs tasted like they’d been put in microwave for about a minute and then put on plate. Now we still have 4 kids with no food. 10 minutes, 3 cheeseburgers arrive. Cheese burned to a crisp and buns are burned and tough. Oh wait 1 kid still hasn’t gotten food. 10 more minutes, here his food comes. So let’s see we started this around 6 pm. And walked out at 9 pm. That was the nastiest food I have ever tried to eat. We’ve tried it before and it was good. I’m not saying it was a off night but when the waiter keeps apologizing, saying “it’s been a bad night” “that we weren’t the only ones done that way”. I asked to talk to manager, he was cooking. I talked to him. After bill came, I decided to talk to him again. Waitress asked me which manager I talked with. Ok you got 2? I really don’t think they knew who was managing tonight. Still cost us $158 and that was “discounted”. It’s pretty bad food when we don’t even get a doggie bag. My granddaughter took 3 bites of her cheeseburger and thought she chipped a tooth. Nobody finished their plate. Everything was cold and nasty. Waiter handed one plate down and said to watch it because it was so “hot”. It wasn’t even warm. PS I guess we should of looked toward kitchen...
