My family and I, a family of 6, consisted of 3 adults and 3 kids were first seated and greeted by a nice young lady.
It was a great start to what was a highly anticipated lunch. I don’t recall her name, but she took our rather large order with no problems! I was rather impressed that she was able to remember who ordered what, and what to add/take away from certain tacos. 5 out of stars for her as she was great! Very friendly and took care of us for the little short time she did. As far as I knew we were off to a great start, but not for long.
After she took our order, I saw her walk out of the establishment accompanied by another coworker. Quite possibly needed to clock out for the day and head home.
While waiting, we all figured we’d be served with the usual complimentary sides EVERY dine in Mexican restaurant does. What’s that you may ask? It would be pico de Gallo/ Guacamole/salsa and chips. To our surprise that NEVER happened. Upon review of the menu, we found that they charge from $3.25 to $8.00 for it, depending if you want the pico de Gallo or the guacamole. Ridiculous, first strike for us.
After our first server left, we were greeted by a young gentleman, who introduced himself as our new server. Made sure we were doing alright and let us know he was there to give us anything we might need.
A few minutes pass by after he had introduced himself, a newer but much older lady, came to us with our order. Probably in her late thirties to early forties. The general vibe she gave off made her seem to either be a manager or had family ties to the business. This was our next strike, as we had seen 3 servers now, within 15 minutes. Made it hard to tip as I wanted to tip our original server, but she ended up leaving. Although I did end up tipping 43% of our bill. Never been in the food service industry, but I used to provide services where we’d get tipped. I know what it feels like to provide good service but not get a tip, it sucks! So I always try to tip somewhat well even if the service is bad! I get that people can have bad days.
At $2.29 a taco you’d hope they’re somewhat decent, not the case. The tortillas are not your regular sized tortilla, they are quite small, probably 3 inches or less in diameter. As well as the tortillas are extremely oily, you can taste oil in every bite. If that’s your thing, more power to you!
Continuing on, we politely asked our new server if we could get some limes for our food before beginning to eat, as they apparently aren’t included with your dish. She ended up coming back out with 1 small lime for 21 tacos and 1 torta. Absolutely ridiculous, it is VERY common to get served 1-2 limes per meal at any other TRUE Mexican restaurant. Didn’t even bother to ask her for more, was disappointed to say the least.
Both salsa’s they ended up providing for the tacos were not even good. It was very watered down and had very little taste. Which is fine for some, specially those who can’t handle the heat. But again, at a majority of authentic Mexican restaurants, they provide mild and hot salsa.
As well as the meat we tried was very bland tasting. We had carnitas, cecina, steak, and lengua tacos. All 5 of my family members, including I, agreed that the food was below average. It was lacking seasoning and some meats were a lot tougher to chew than others.
All in all, I wouldn’t recommend nor go back to this establishment. There are a TON of GREAT AUTHENTIC Mexican restaurants nearby, not like this one claims to be, specially in Addison since it has a rather large Hispanic population. They just seemed like penny pinchers to be honest. Small tortillas, no introductory chips and salsa, small to go containers, one lime for 6 people and 21 tacos and a torta. Yeah... this place is NOT it.
I did notice that there was not one Latino family eating here nor pulling through the drive thru. Us Latinos know where the real FLAVOR is at. As someone who visits Mexico twice a year to stay with family, this is NOWHERE near the authenticity of flavor of REAL Mexican food as they...
Read moretl;dr - BEWARE! i got food poisoning from this place, never going here again. i used to come here often with my boyfriend mainly for just the tacos. and every time i ate them, they were really good! i especially enjoyed their barbacoa tacos because they didn’t have as much fatty in the meat, but the meat still tasted really juicy and good. me and my boyfriend always either dined in or got our food through drive-thru. although just a couple days ago, we decided to go through drive-thru again and i got myself the barbacoa tacos, and he got asada tacos. when i ate them once we got back home, immediately the tacos tasted pretty weird and different. it didn’t smell any different, it was just the taste. it didn’t have anything to do with the packaging, since it was nice and tightly wrapped in tinfoil. but the corn tortillas just tasted weird, and surprisingly the barbacoa meat had a lot of fatty in it this time. it was the first time i actually didn’t finish all of my food from this place because of how weird it tasted. it’s hard to describe, but it’s almost as if maybe the corn tortillas they used were expired or something, cuz it just tasted really old. the meat didn’t actually taste too bad, so that’s what i mostly ate while picking off the fatty parts. i thought to myself “well i guess their tacos were just lacking today” and didn’t think much of it. the next morning, which was yesterday morning, i was hit with the runs at 4AM. and after awhile, i reached for my trashcan while still on the toilet and started vomiting. i thought to myself that it definitely had to be because of those tacos i ate. not to mention that my boyfriend also had the runs shortly after eating the asada tacos the night before. luckily it was just one time and he wasn’t hit with any vomiting. for me, i got the runs almost the whole morning, and i vomited again at around maybe 9-10AM. thankfully my runs weren’t bloody and neither was my vomit, so i didn’t have to go to the hospital. my symptoms were normal because it was just my body trying to get rid of all the yucky stuff that i consumed that night. but it was definitely really scary because i haven’t vomited since i was just a kid, and i’m an adult now. i was barely able to eat anything the whole day i got sick too, all i was able to consume was a banana and some crackers. as well as some unflavored pedialyte and water. thankfully i feel recovered now, so i’m hoping i can eat some more today. so thanks to this place, i now have a new fear food and never want to eat tacos or any cow meat ever again! so that’s fun. my boyfriend and i are definitely never eating here again. i really hope this hasn’t happened to...
Read moreStopped by here on a Saturday night around 6:15. In the area of Addison, there is a lot of Mexican restaurants to choose from. One of the advantages they have compared to others is that they have a drive-thru! A second advantage in my opinion is the number of different meat options. Overall, the food is good, however, it is a little bit overpriced.
As they advertised, it is a casual experience of enjoying Mexican dishes in a modern and comfortable setting. It is located in a strip mall, with plenty of parking. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor patio is one of the nicest patio’s I have been to during the pandemic, especially for fast-food. All of the tables have stickers on the tables that show a QR code to pull up their menu. Under the tents, they have lights and fans. All staff members were wearing a mask and I did see our server disinfecting tables. We sat outside, and I didn’t see hand-sanitizer available, however, I’m not sure if there is some inside. Our server greeted us right away, was kind, and he did check on us frequently. We did have a small incident where one of us found hair in our food. Our server and the manager addressed this quickly, apologized, offered new food and they took this meal off the bill. We understand things happen and they handled it great!
For food, we ordered: Guacamole and pico de Gallo. Both orders came with a side orders of chips. The chips were freshly made, however, they were too crunchy for me. The guacamole was lacking flavor and for the amount you receive for the price you pay, it is not worth it. The pico de Gallo was good and worth the price.
My sister and my niece ordered a #1 which is 3 tacos served with rice and beans. The tacos are served with onion, cilantro, and salsa with your choice of your meat. There is 17 different meats to choose from. Some of the premium meat is a little extra. They also have 3 taco dinners to choose from. The difference is the number of tacos and toppings. Of course you can request any additional toppings you want.
I ordered their #3 which is a torta sandwich. This was delicious. The bread was so soft on the inside and had that nice crunch/firmness on the outside. This meal also came with rice and beans. The rice and beans were not bad, but the beans didn’t taste fresh.
The salsa they have on the table, is not hot at all (if you like spice), so I had to order chopped jalapeños on the side. Overall, it is a decent place, good outdoor seating, good parking, good music, good customer service, but as I mentioned, it is a little bit overpriced.
I plan to go back and try...
