The Manager Could Benefit from Learning Basic People Skills.
My first time at the Benihana Addison location. I wish I could leave zero stars but I’m forced to leave one star. I’ll keep this as brief as possible.
My party of eight arrived on Saturday 01/06/2024, for an 1pm reservation. It was a cold day so my father asked the hostess if we could please sit away from the front to avoid the cold air. For whatever reason, she informed the manager and he approached my father in a hostile tone of voice. He asked what the “table problem” was. He began using work jargon we did not understand because we are not in the restaurant industry. I tried redirecting the conversation by stating he was only concerned about being away from the door, and it was only a question, and it was never meant to be confrontational. The manager asked if I felt he was being rude. I replied yes and he told me I was entitled to my opinion. At this point, I knew the manager was not good at people skills and I tried to quickly end the conversation. I thanked him for the table clarification since we were being seated away from the door. He walked away without saying anything. I figured he did not hear me so I told him to have a good day. He continued walking and gave a partial side glance while ignoring me.
Now on the table. The staff was friendly and seated us. After approximately 5 minutes, another party was seated next to us and a waitress finally arrived for our drink orders. After waiting a long time for our drinks, we finally gave our food order.
At 2pm, the party next to us had already had their food cooked and paid for their meal. Our table was still waiting for a chef. For whatever reason, the manager walked near our table and stared for a couple of minutes. Another employee did the same thing followed by the manager once again. I’m not sure what they were evaluating but I figured if it was for the delay of our food being prepared, he would have at least come talk to us. We at least received our soup and salad. The soup was barely warm and the salad was not good at all.
At approximately 2:15pm, our chef finally arrived and stayed at our table for almost an hour. Our waitress was inattentive and I finally had the opportunity to ask for a beer. The waitress said the restaurant was out of the specific beer I wanted and walked away. She did not ask if I wanted an alternative, nor did she give me the opportunity to ask. Some of my family members were thirsty so I literally had to walk away from my seat to find water and refill glasses for my table. I also had to go search for extra napkins. Our waitress was polite but not customer service oriented.
The food itself was very bland was not seasoned well. A few members of our party asked for extra salt and hot sauce to help with the blandness. Several cuts of steaks had huge chucks of fat that were chopped up and served to us. The chef was polite but did not season the food well.
Our bill finally arrived and I chuckled at my bill. The restaurant actually charged my wife and I a dollar because we asked for spicy food. I have never been to a restaurant that charged for asking for spicy food. To make matters worse, at least half my party suffered from food poisoning. I will never again go to this restaurant. Poor customer service and a manager who’s...
Read moreIf I could give more than five stars, I absolutely would. Dining with Chef Miguel was not just a meal—it was a full-blown performance, culinary showcase, and unforgettable night all rolled into one. From the second he stepped up to the grill, Miguel exuded charisma, confidence, and a deep passion for what he does. His presence immediately elevated the entire atmosphere, setting the tone for what would become one of the best hibachi experiences I’ve ever had.
Let’s talk about entertainment first: Miguel is not just a chef, he’s an artist and a showman. His knife skills are jaw-dropping—effortlessly juggling, flipping, and slicing with speed and precision. Watching him cook is like watching a symphony conductor, except the instruments are spatulas and flaming onion volcanoes. His signature moves, from the flying shrimp toss to the egg roll trick (you know the one), had everyone at the table smiling, laughing, and fully engaged. Whether it was flipping a zucchini into someone’s mouth or cracking jokes with the perfect comedic timing, Miguel made sure everyone felt like they were part of the show.
But don’t let the entertainment fool you—Miguel’s food is on another level. Every item was cooked to perfection. The steak was tender and juicy with just the right sear; the shrimp were succulent and packed with flavor; the chicken was moist, not dry at all (a feat in itself), and the fried rice? Don’t get me started. Perfectly seasoned, delightfully fluffy, with a subtle crisp from the grill—honestly, I could’ve eaten a whole plate of it alone. The vegetables were cooked just right, still vibrant with a bit of crunch, and he made sure to accommodate dietary preferences and spice levels with total professionalism.
What impressed me most, though, was Miguel’s attention to detail and ability to personalize the experience for every guest. He remembered names, tailored jokes to the vibe of the table, and made sure each person had their moment in the spotlight. He made kids laugh and kept adults entertained—no small feat. It felt less like we were at a restaurant and more like we were VIP guests at his private table.
And beyond the food and fun, Miguel was just incredibly kind and genuine. You could tell he really cared about making the night special, and he took immense pride in his craft. He went above and beyond to make sure everyone was having a great time and left full, happy, and smiling.
If you’re going to a hibachi restaurant and Chef Miguel is cooking, run to that table. You’ll get more than just a meal—you’ll get an experience that you’ll be talking about for days, maybe even weeks. Miguel is the kind of chef who reminds you why dining out can be magical. He transforms a routine dinner into something truly extraordinary.
I will absolutely be coming back—and I’ll be requesting Miguel by name. Thank you, Chef Miguel, for making our night so special. You’re a true gem and a master...
Read moreMade a reservation because it was my wedding anniversary. Our reservation was for 845. We got there early so it didn’t take long to be seated. We were seated at the table with a family of 5 on one side and a set of guys on the other end. There should’ve been only one seat left but they decided to stick my husband and I on the end which would’ve been ok if my husband was a thin man. I was so close to the man beside me I was practically sitting in his chair too. I bumped him so many times but he and his wife were polite. The guy sitting next to my husband their legs were touching and hubs couldn’t even scoot up to the table. We were the 30+ minutes with no drinks. We saw a serve they took our drink order and never came back with the drinks. Our waitress finally came we were able to get forks and there wasn’t enough so she said she would bring back one for the person who didn’t have a fork. We get our appetizer and still no drinks. One of the people at the table went to the manager about the drinks. We finally get drinks but was still waiting a long time for our food order. The manager comes back and I asked to pay for the drinks and appetizer because I was unhappy with the service. The manager says he will give 50% off because what had happen so the table decides to stay. The guy who was cooking the food brushed over the order really fast. Normally when you order the fried rice they fill the bowl to the edge. That didn’t happen it was like he had barely enough for everyone one kid didn’t even get any so his brother shared. The brother that shared was there with food and no fork to eat it with it was almost an hour after everyone else had forks. We had to clean off our own table to have room. With the 6 course meal you get salad. No one received any salad. The soup was salty. I asked for medium rare steak and got medium closer to medium well. Then I was asked do you want it or not. I asked for butter for my rice. Normally they melt it. I was given a dollop of butter on my rice that tasted like it had NO SEASONING. When I asked for salt he looked surprised. The only thing that was brought quickly was my to go box and the check. Other tables were complaining as well about waiting without anyone coming by. I was so mad at this point I was ready to go. It took the waitress like 15 more minutes to let us pay. I got up to pay with someone else a they refused to take my payment. The managers could visibly see my anger but I didn’t go off. I didn’t ask for a free meal I just wanted to leave. This was the worse experience I had ever had here. Totally ruined our Anniversary for the rest...
