We had high hopes for Spatch Kitchen but there are some things they really need to work on. First, they don’t have a number available on Google but they do have one listed on their website. However, when we called it sent us to a cellphone voicemail, which was very odd. They didn’t have the time available we needed to make a reservation so we just pulled up. Upon entering, we noticed quite a few people on the patio with some pretty good music being played so that seemed like a plus. The host asked if we had a reservation & we stated no. She said okay I just want to give you heads up we are very backed up at this time. Looking at the few tables occupied & maybe 2-3 people at the bar we figured eh they can’t be that backed up & opted for a booth.
The young lady Serenity who served us was really sweet and soft spoken but I would highly suggest she work on being more attentive. Instead of walking away so quick actually take the time to engage with customers asking what they would like to drink & if they are ready to order. We had to wait quite some time just for her to come back so that we could order something. Twice I had to ask a nearby waiter for items we needed because she wouldn’t stay long enough for us to ask her. We did learn she had a personal matter going on that had her distracted but in that case management should’ve allowed her to properly step away so that someone else could take over.
We tried to order a carafe but they were out of champagne…during brunch. Granted people on the patio & a inside table clearly had bottles of champagne, but okay. Then they had Rose’ but you could only get a bottle no single pours so that was out. We ended up getting mules, a margarita - which was sent back & replaced with another option. Now as for the food, they came out as if they had been sitting for a min, they were almost cold. But we were so hungry & didn’t want to keep waiting. The 3 lamb chops were the smallest two bite chops I have ever seen for $28. The potatoes & eggs were mediocre. The chicken & waffles were so dry we had to sent it back & replace it with the Hangover Hamburger which was nothing to brag about.
I’m also not sure why the gentleman in a Cowboys jersey (possible owner/manager) in the kitchen would grab orders, walk out to the seating area & continuously call out to the waiters to take the order. Its seems their kitchen process is in quite a disarray but it was very apparent the focus was more on the patio tables versus the inside tables. The ambiance was very confusing & I’m not sure they actually know what type of place they want to be. The music that was being played was very “turn up” type music that you would normally hear for a day party but the inside gave very intimate vibes. No one was actually dancing or engaging really, was more of a “can we please get some service” type of energy.
Now would I recommend Spatch? No, but others may have a better experience than we did on a...
Read moreApril 11, 2025 my sister (visiting from St. Louis, Mo) and I had the most deplorable experience at Spatch. Beautiful weather so the patio was chosen. 7:15p The hostess told us to find a spot and someone would be over. About 10 minutes into our visit the waitress came. She took our order for. Mine Lightly blackened catfish and grits, my sister’s Cajun chicken pasta. At 7:50p a server came with catfish over fries. I explained that I didn’t order that and affirmed what I did order. 8:05p A server arrived with my food, corrected but without my sister’s food. Strange. It’s only two of us what I our food not coming together. I asked for our waitress to explain that with two people is customary that our food be presented together. She apologized but couldn’t answer why and would tell the manager to come over. 8:10 manager comes over. I repeated the concern. She basically filibustered the whole 5 minutes. She never anticipated that she should’ve taken my food back until my sister’s food arrived. 8:30p my sister’s food arrived. I hadn’t touched my now nearly cold food because I had NO UTENSILS! Finally my sister, a guest in my city and this establishment, got her food. Once her food arrived I was SHOCKED that another plate wasn’t sent for me knowing the concerns expressed. Long and short. The manager was not able to grasp the gravity of the dysfunctions of the entire visit. The gaps in ordering taking, the blame on the kitchen staff, the lapse in time and attention to our table, lack of utensils and lack of listening to the details of all things entailed. The offer of a discounted meal pales in comparison to the deep sorrow we felt that the potential of the establishment seemingly rest is the scathing dressed hostess who smoke hooka with the guest, the pictures at the floral wall and the pretty drinks. Why offer food if it’s not a priority to make it a great experience for guest? Worst experience in...
Read moreMy fiancé and I went out for dinner on 5/28/2024 and to watch some of the Mavs game. We ordered the creole deviled eggs (4) for an appetizer and water with lemon. If you've never had this, it's a seasoned shrimp on a deviled egg. The shrimp was nicely seasoned, and I wish we could've have ordered just the shrimp. The deviled egg was a bit on the hard side. Our waitress didn't bring a plate, or any silverware and we waited a few minutes as she looked over at us while helping other guest and going back and forth to the register. It just never registered to here as we sat looking at our food, that we needed the important items like forks and plates. We asked another waitress for help, and she brought over our utensils.
I ordered the seafood combo (catfish & shrimp w/fries) and my lady ordered the Tuscan pasta with chicken. The seafood combo was nicely seasoned. No complaints. The Tuscan pasta lacked any real seasoning and was borderline, bland.
We get our billed and I noticed that the Tuscan pasta was $31 and the line item below said w/chicken $7. The menu however says, Tuscan pasta with chicken or shrimp, $31. I brought this to our waitress's attention, and she brought it to the attention of the Manager, and he removed the entire meal. I explained to him that I was only asking to have the $7 error corrected, I had no problem paying for the meal. He said, "it's ok, they should've done it right the first time". Again, I told him I wasn't looking to get anyone in trouble and I had no problem paying, he again said, "it's no problem, we messed up and I'm taking care of you". He took the entire meal off! They add 20% gratuity automatically (stated in small print on the menu at the bottom) but I still gave additional money because of the way the Manager handle the issue. I wish I had gotten his name, but he was a short African-American with glasses. I would go back for drinks anytime...
