We had a party of 4 on Valentine's Day 2017 and we arrived later in the evening when the crowd was thinning out. When we get in the restaurant my husband, his friend and I all went to the restroom and the friends girlfriend waited to be seated.... Now mind you the restaurant is close to empty and the hostess puts us in the first table right by the door (understandably this maybe the closing section), so no biggie.... but another party that came it with us was seated in a much better warmer area. While I'm on my way to the table the waitress comes over and our friend asked that she bring water for everyone just until we are all seated and ready to order but mid sentence the waitress walked away, with no acknowledgement. I knew then that this experience would not be a good one. Now at this location they have an after 8 menu which is basically the lunch sized portion for a higher price of lunch but lower cost of a full dinner. I inquired about this menu only because our waitress was quick to give us this menu and not the other table that came in with us (an older White Couple)... What I wanted was on the special menu so I specifically told the waitress I wanted the full size dinner that comes with the salad. Our friends girlfriend did not order salad and the waitress brought her one, we asked if was included in the meal and she said no... we advised that she did not order the salad and could she take it back and make sure it wasn't on the bill. She took it away as if we did something wrong. The waitress hardly came to our table, but to take our food order, never asking if anyone wanted something more to drink than water. My husband ended up going to the bar for drinks which he had to do a separate check because apparently they couldn't combined the two. My husbands friend and his girlfriends dinner did not look appetizing at all, the Alfredo Sauce was watery and the "fried" chicken for the Chicken Alfredo was barely breaded and bland, while the cheese garlic bread had so much garlic it was inedible. Yes we did address the manager that night and they did take care of our meal which was not what we wanted... We wanted a pleasant evening with good food, awesome drinks and wonderful service, not an awful experience, with no drinks, horrible service and inedible food. I do however believe in second chances, hopefully our next experience is better... I will...
Read moreTo say I was excited to visit the pasta house would be an understatement. Unfortunately, I showed up and the "house" wasn't even made of pasta. It wasn't even close. It was actually made of brick and mortar like every other boring restaurant in St. Louis. I said to my family "Ok kids, this isn't a pasta house at all, let's go home." Then I realized I drove 5 minutes to get there and decided that if I didn't at least try the food then it would have been 5 minutes completely wasted. If there's anything I can't stand, it's wasted time. So we went inside to eat and I am so glad we did.
After we ordered they asked if we wanted rolls and I obviously said yes because I love rolling around. So as I sat there waiting for someone to roll me down a hill or spin me in the chair or something, they ended up bringing out this basket with these balls of bread...they were called rolls. Very unexpected. We devoured those rolls so fast and they just brought out more. I was wondering if they had a "roll factory" in the back or something. Anyways, we actually had like 17 baskets of rolls and I paid for our meals and we left, completely forgetting about the pasta and pizza and sandwiches we ordered. To this day I wonder how everything else would have tasted if I wasn't so distracted by the rolls and actually ate anything else, but honestly I don't care. Those rolls were delicious. After we left, I took everyone to the park to roll down the hill because I couldn't get that out of my mind. It was an amazing day, and it's all thanks to...
Read moreI have been a customer for over 30 years and have always talked highly about this place because it has been consistently good year after year after year. We have been very happy until now. It was a busy night we arrived at 5:25 and were seated and 605. No problem even though we were told it was 20:25 minutes wait. They were very busy because they were offering free spaghetti to mothers, no meatballs but spaghetti and sauce. We Placed our order about 6:10 and still at 7:35 did not have any food. This is unacceptable. The waitress was nice and apologetic but either overwhelmed and or had a bad day.Something has changed and they are no longer a good place to go. I feel sad having to say that because I have been a champion of this restaurant for many years and have enjoyed it being a neighborhood place for us to go over and over and over. We have even purchased many gift certificates for others as presents to go to this restaurant because it has been so consistent and so good. Tonight was a big...
