I recently dined at Sukiya Japanese Steak House with a group of friends, and unfortunately, the experience left a lot to be desired. While the food itself was decent, the behavior of the grill person was highly inappropriate and disrespectful towards our preferences and beliefs.
Upon arriving at our table, the grill person surprised us by spraying what we assumed was water into our mouths. To our shock and dismay, it turned out to be alcohol. Not only did this breach our trust, but it also had unintended consequences, as alcohol ended up spilling on our clothes. It was both unprofessional and unacceptable for the grill person to act so carelessly and without prior consent.
What made matters worse was the fact that some of us had made a conscious decision not to drink alcohol for personal reasons or due to religious beliefs. We expected the staff to respect our choices and accommodate our preferences. However, the grill person's actions clearly demonstrated a lack of consideration for those who choose not to consume alcohol.
Rather than apologizing for the mishap and respecting our wishes, the grill person persisted in pressuring some members of our group to drink more. This type of behavior is completely unacceptable and goes against the principles of good customer service. It is essential for restaurant staff to be sensitive to the diverse needs and preferences of their customers, especially when it comes to personal choices related to alcohol consumption.
While it's understandable that some establishments may incorporate interactive elements into their dining experience, it should always be done with the utmost care and consideration for the customers. In this case, Sukiya Japanese Steak House failed to meet those expectations. The lack of communication, consent, and respect for our preferences overshadowed an otherwise average dining experience.
It is my sincere hope that Sukiya Japanese Steak House takes this review as an opportunity for reflection and improvement. A restaurant should strive to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all patrons, regardless of their personal choices or beliefs. A simple inquiry about our preferences and an apology for the incident could have mitigated the negative impact of this experience.
Regrettably, due to the disappointing and disrespectful behavior exhibited by the grill person, I cannot in good conscience recommend Sukiya Japanese Steak...
Read moreWe've ate here on several occasions when we come to Aiken. We've had exceptional service and great food each time. However, yesterday, not sure what happened, but our waiter was terrible. Chef took forever to come out to our table and a table next to us, as well. Then food got cooked and had to ask 3x for sauce. Folks seated next to us and my husband had no drink a few times. Had to chase the waiter down. Food got cold sitting there waiting on sauce. It really was a bad experience. Server didn't offer dinner option but instead said to us either salad or soup for lunch. Ummmm, is the dinner option not available?
Like I said, the other trips here were great but the employees yesterday were awful. Waiter really made for a bad experience taking our check to pay with a bad attitude and walking away while diners seated next to us had to holler at his back to please bring back 2 tens. She was trying to leave his awful servicing a tip! It was crazy.
Fortunately we've had previous trips here where it was great so we will come back. However if the service is bad 2x, we won't come back. Hopefully next trip will be better and I can give 5...
Read moreThe food was average for the most part. We had Hibachi filet mignon and lobster tail which where cooked as ordered and good but the noodles were soggy and didn't have much flavor. The atmosphere was very loud and you couldn't hear someone speaking to you from 3-4ft away. The Hibachi chef was great. He had a good personality and did a great job entertaining and cooking the food.
The waiter on the other hand had no personality, and appeared to be annoyed whenever my daughter would order or ask for something (normal things like asking for another drink). When we finished our main meal, he didnt ask if we wanted anything from the dessert menu, but rather he just brought our check (which concluded the whole "rushed out experience). After he handed us the check, we were just sitting there for 10-15 mins waiting for our him to check us out (finally had to ask someone to get him). Overall, I don't think we will go back...
