If you’re looking for a charming, cozy, and delicious breakfast or brunch spot in Aiken, Polo Grounds Café is a must-visit. Nestled just off the main road but still easy to find, this hidden gem offers a relaxed and inviting atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating. Whether you’re meeting friends, enjoying a solo coffee, or bringing a book and soaking in the sunshine, this café has you covered.

The crepes and French toast (only offered on the weekend) are absolutely divine. Hearty, rich, and packed with flavor, these aren’t your average light brunch options—they’re satisfyingly indulgent in the best possible way. The French toast in particular is thick-cut and perfectly golden, with just the right balance of crisp edges and soft, custardy middle. Topped with fresh berries and syrup, it’s a treat that feels like a warm hug on a plate. The crepes are equally impressive—delicate and tender, yet stuffed full of sweet or savory goodness, depending on your mood. My favorite is the El Presidente!

They also offer a full range of specialty coffee drinks that go way beyond your standard cup of joe. Whether you prefer a classic latte, a frothy cappuccino, or something more creative with flavored syrups and seasonal ingredients, the baristas here know what they’re doing.

The atmosphere is also worth mentioning. Inside, it’s warm and welcoming, with a laid-back vibe that makes you want to linger. Outside, the café really shines—there’s something so peaceful about sipping a coffee surrounded by the gentle buzz of conversation, a breeze in the air, and a stunning array of gorgeous plants. The greenery adds such a refreshing and calming touch to the space, making it feel more like a garden oasis than a typical café patio.

In short, Polo Grounds Café is a beautiful blend of comforting food, delicious drinks, and serene ambiance. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Aiken, this café is well worth the stop. Come hungry, leave happy—and maybe a little full....

This is my third time coming here. I absolutely love the atmosphere and the food is good. I am really glad to see somewhere that offers so many gluten free options. All the plants and surrounding decorations are so pretty.

I do have one complaint though that really ruins the whole experience for me and the reason our family probably won’t go back. Every single time I have come to this cafe I have experienced the man who cooks things (I think this is the owner?) is quite rude and hasn’t been friendly. My daughter commented the same thing as well. Today was a special day for my daughter and I and we are both gluten free so we chose this cafe to take our little family to for breakfast. We were met with irritation that we had 6 people in our party. He rolled his eyes and grunted like it was a huge inconvenience. We tried coming as soon as they opened hoping to not cause tension because I know it’s small. Already feeling unwelcomed, I tried to find a table and was snapped at by him and told to go to the back. Even my husband was surprised at the rudeness and irritation from this man. This is the third time we have been met with a less than friendly attitude from him. Kind of put a downer on the whole breakfast and special day. When we got home even my son said something about the guys rudeness. Such a bummer because this cafe would be one of our favorites but we...

Tried this place for the first time, very cute on the outside, reminded me of my grandmother's home growing up. It's not clear upon entering whether you are to be seated or seat yourself, so I asked. The chef answered rather annoyed at the question, so I assume he is the owner. The customer service did not improve from there. Having my 3 year old with me, he became interested in a tin off the mantle and politely set it back down on some books after I asked him not to play with it. This was while I was at the counter placing our order. The young woman taking my order stopped me abruptly, whispered to the other young woman who seemed just as confused as me, only to go around to the front to put the tin box back on the mantle. I do not understand why that was so important she had to stop me from placing the order. The attitude of her and the chef was enough not to warrant returning. If my son had been loud or impolite, there would be some justification but he did very well, used polite language, patiently waited near me, sat in his chair, he was wonderful. Why own a restaurant when you don't like people? Food costs are high...

Never got to experience the food or atmosphere as when I asked how we order, the man behind the counter cooking said she will be right with you just hold on. He then went to the door where the lady was washing dishes and told her “you are going to have to come out here she’s freaking out”. I simply asked a question and that was uncalled for and unwarranted. I was so looking forward to trying this place but the rudeness ruined it for me and we left. As for being called a princess, this is the rudeness I was met with upon asking a simple question. I had no problems waiting for assistance, it was saying I was freaking out. Thank for proving my point in your reply instead of apologizing for the way you spoke of a customer that was there for the first time and last time From the husband: my wife asked if this is where we placed the order and your told your coworker that she needed to come out as the lady was freaking out. That was uncalled for and why we left. Had nothing to do with how long we were there. Had everything to do with your attitude and what you said about my wife. Do not ever disrespect my wife again.

I’ve been a fan of Polo Grounds since it opened spring 2021—delicious mix of sweet, savory and seasonal crepes. My favorite is the Low Goal with eggs, mozzarella & tomatoes—it’s simple and not too heavy. As for sweet crepes I’ve tried the Death Star, which is good but super dense—I really like the Bee’s Knees. It’s light and sweet, good for a snack or easy breakfast. My favorite part of eating at Polo Grounds is the porch, front yard, and outdoor seating. Jeremy, the owner, has diligently landscaped with beautiful plants and flowers that attract anole lizards, butterflies and birds. Very peaceful and entertaining. And if you find you “got your eyes bigger than your belly” and perhaps ate a little too much, grab a cup of coffee and take a stroll through downtown Aiken—soon you’ll be ready for another crepe! Best times: Wednesday & Thursday mornings great for skipping the crowds. Saturday & Sunday are very popular days.
