Being homeless and living in my car I will generally call a place b4 closing time to retrieve food be4 it hits the dumpster(lost a lot of pride being homeless, still trying to hold on to some of it even if it is very little)! Anyway on 2 separate occasions I've asked hamburger station for anything,ANYTHING I could have b4 hitting the dumpsters? My 1st call was be4 his biggest day in history of everyone coming and helping him hit his biggest sales day in July 2025? Maybe early August it was but regardless the answer to his employee was no and click! I sat just dumbfounded thinking bout all the fries and onion rings made and given out so freely on the daily with each meal ordered but anyway after reading his sign bout a week later I thought to myself,oh that's great news he just did awesome last week with all his customers making history that maybe he was just in a bad mood the day I asked the first time so without thinking twice I jump on my phone (early evening) and give him my speech..husband and I live in our car,we're hungry do u think that ud have anything left over or just anything u could spare b4 hitting the dumpster? And to my surprise,I was given the same answer as the previous week with the same ungrateful, greedy reply! No,click! Now at this point I'm angry at him because he has broadcasted on his sign how thankful he was that the community came together and for the first time in history made his "hamburger station" great! But what really had me angry that I was in the free pack and go community dinner line at the church diaganal from his place watching all of our community PUT him on the top shelf while still not helping 2 people in our community keep from being hungery that night or any other time! I'm a nobody in this community,I haven't done anything to even earn a free meal..ok? However, while being homeless and hungry myself,I have offered cold water or pop to people I have seen walking in the blazing sun! We have offered rides if we have room in our car! We have always given back the little we had to offer...so with that being said,I will NEVER patronize hamburger station again or any other place that WILLNOT HELP A PERSON IN NEED OF A SINGLE MEAL OR A HAND UP IN ANY FORM! I WONT BE HOMELESS FOREVER,JUST A BUMP IN MY ROAD THAT NEEDED TO BE TAKEN TO GET ME BACK ON THE RIGHT PATH!! I STUMBLED ALITTLE,I DID NOT FALL OR FAIL!! Thanks for...
Read moreWas passing through that area and had the fish sandwich and an order of breaded mushrooms and a lemonade. Before I left I decided to try an order of fries because I thought the mushrooms had a weird odor about them. The mushrooms looked good, the texture was there, but the smell was not appealing, I ate two and threw the rest in the trash. The fish sandwich looked good, the bun was extra fresh and soft. I asked them to add lettuce, onions and pickles. The pile of shredded lettuce tasted like it came right from a bag of pre shredded lettuce that was in the bag to long. The piece of fish patty was sappose to be Cod, I suppose it was, it was triangular shaped and had a nice color, it was hot and juicy. I suppose it would have been nice to have a little more tartar sauce on it, I did ask for the additions of pickles, onions and Lettuce, the mega pile of shredded lettuce sort of buried any taste of the dab of tarter sauce. On my way out I ordered some fries, they were absolutely delicious fries, hot in a bag, but I was disappointed when I asked what they were fried in and he said Vegetable oil. I've been reading a lot about fried foods and the negative effects of using Vegetable oil for deep frying. Some places have been going back to beef fat oil and it is actually the better choice. The outside appearance looked simple and clean, unfortunately the inside wasn't as clean, sticky floors, dated decor, men's restroom with dated and bulging wall board, finger marks all over everything and overstuffed napkin holders that make it impossible to just pull out one or two napkins without wanting to throw the dispenser against the wall. I don't know if I really have the patience to taste anything else or experience much more of this place. I suppose the fresh squeezed Lemonade was the one other positive here and the host was nice and polite and offered me a refill, which I didn't decline after discovering I ate an entire bag of deep fried Vegetable oil soaked fries but enjoyed them, later on I knew my body would not enjoy them as much as my...
Read moreLast time I tried Hamburger Station, it was quite ok. Nothing special but an easy option that I was looking forward to treating my family to since they haven't tried it. We had some extra flow so I ordered for take out and bought the family pack. Nothing wrong with the service. Fries were good. Soggy but enjoyably so. Onion rings were a hit, especially with my young daughter. No complaints there at all. However, upon the first bite of my burger I thought my sense of taste went haywire. Had to figure out where this rancid taste came from. Luckily it was NOT the meat. Thought it may have been but we figured out it was the onions. I'm an onion guy. Love 'em. They can do no wrong. Unless they're bad. They tasted like they were doused in vinegar, sans the vinegar. It must not have been all the onions but enough to be mixed in with the entirety of their lot. Ruined the meal and my appetite completely. But I'm not one to go make demands or waste food or go hungry if I can help it so I ended up eating just the patties, like a savage. But come on. Money is so tight these days and we rarely go out. And we just keep getting burned when we occasionally do! We love supporting local places, especially being new Ohioans. But we have just about given up, and this experience was the final straw. Won't be back. Won't suggest people go there. We will unfortunately only suggest and patronize the few chains that insist on consistency and good service. Those being the likes of Chick-fil-A and Cane's. Honestly never had a bad experience with those places. Going anywhere else, even local places is a huge gamble and I'm tired of losing. Wish I could tell family and friends that Akron has a great food scene but this place and so many others live down to the reputation of...
