I feel I should be able to post a 2nd review since they are now owned and run by different people. (I wonder if they have some of the previous cooks there?)
While I loved the previous owners food, I didn't like how they were raising the prices, so after eating there on a nearly weekly basis I quit going. The new owners menu has become cheaper for the same combos we purchased that the previous owner sold. For example, Kung Pao Chicken combo is $7.50. It is as delicious as used to be. Only difference in taste seemed to be less sauce was used; which is probably healthier anyway. (They call it Kung Bo Chicken Ding.) Pops are $1.00 a can.
A sushi menu has been added. A California roll, for example is $5.50. Also a hibachi menu has been added.
They brought us orange slices at the end of the meal, and we only purchased the combos and not the fancier meals.
A complete redesigned interior. It looks a lot better than it did previously. (Other than a really bad paint job.) I ended up sitting at table rather than a booth because they now seem to be made for people twice my size. I weigh a little under 200lbs, so if you weigh twice that, you should be able to fit in the booths.
The bathroom was a low point for the previous owners. The new owners have one unisex bathroom that was clean. However there is no urinal in this bathroom, you do the math as to how long it stays clean.
Hopefully they will get the traffic they deserve, and will be able to keep their prices down.
If I have the same pleasant experience I did this time, I will easily reedit this to...
Read moreDO NOT EAT HERE. So I have had a good experience before and decided to eat here again. I got 2 orders of avocado roll and when I opened the Togo container the seaweed was brown and I’m not talking light green...it was chocolate brown no joke. I took the sushi back and asked if they could just make me another order. I’ve run restaurants and I was completely understanding. The old lady behind the counter said “no” and then tried to give me the ol’ “it’s supposed to be that way” ...REALLY!?!? Lol c’mon! When she wouldn’t make me a new order I asked for a refund. She gave me the refund (shorted me the tax) and told me to never come back. I couldn’t believe it. Not only was I polite, but I thought my suggestion was fair. I still can’t believe that just happened, and all my years of running a restaurant that is the exact opposite of how you would want to handle that situation but that’s why the place has a sign that’s falling apart and the floors look like they haven’t been cleaned in years. cheap ownership that will tell the customers never come back rather than just remake their food for them. At the end of the day I guess that’s what I get for ordering sushi from a Chinese fast food restaurant. LASTLY there are two House of Hunans in Akron. I’m assuming most of the pics/reviews are for the place in Fairlawn and not this location on Waterloo because they...
Read moreThe food here was great! I remember someone mentioned it to me a while ago. But, I totally forgot about it, until we were looking for an Asian food place near by, that was open. And, since most other places are either closed down, or they were about to close for the night, due to the COVID-19 dilemma. We decided to take the trip about 25 minutes away from our house and try them out. And, I am definitely glad that we did! The Hunan Shrimp was one of the best, that I had ever had! They definitely put plenty of shrimp in the meal, the spiciness of it started as if it was not spicy at all. But, the spiciness grows on your tongue, as you eat it! So, it's a gradual build up on the spiciness. The spicy egg drop soup was delicious, as well. And, the others were saying that their food was great, as well. And, we have loved going around to different Asian restaurants in a 1 hour drive from the house, for years. Just to find the best places around. So, we have hit, just about every Asian restaurant, within a 1 hour radius of our home. And, I have to say, that this definitely ranks in the top 2...
