Waterloo Restaurant & Catering — Restaurant in Akron

Completely forgot to take pics! However, I ended up taking some home so I'll snap a few ... may not look as good, but everything was delicious! It's funny, because I've lived about a mile from the restaurant for about 15 years. It was after Covid when everything started to open back up that my Mom and I realized all the salad bars were gone!!! I started searching and their salads popped up on a menu. Always knew it was there, but thought it was strictly catering or hall rental or something. No idea where I even got that thought from. Anyway, ordered two different salads to go... think a chopped and a Mediterranean, both with chicken. They were fresh, chicken was juicy, and was a good portion for the price. Since then we've been there several times. We order something different everytime and every single time, it's been great. Appetizers, chicken dinners, soup, salads, burgers, it's all been fresh, flavorful, and modesty priced. And..... everytime the customer service was excellent. My Mom and I usually go to lunch to chat and spend some quality time together. That can frustrate servers sometimes. We have never felt rushed. Today, we were there around noon. Two staff members greeted us, before we were even seated. The server was right there to get our drink order. We had an order of wings 1st.... crispy, flavorful, juicy. I ordered pita and hummus, and fish tacos. My Mom ordered the soup du jour, which was stuffed pepper soup. It smelled so good and she said it was delicious. She also ordered warm pita. Fish tacos were delicious. Two crisp shells, red cabbage slaw, salsa, avocado aoli, sour cream. Oh ya, and a full piece of cod in each one. They have a section on their menu where they have five or so tacos. You get two, but can add another one for $3. Will definitely be back to try the others, which included brisket, pulled pork, chicken, and I can't remember the others, but they all sounded good. A guy walked by our table and noticed I had some leftover, and brought me a to go container and bag. When I went to the counter to pay, three different team members acknowledged us, thanked us for coming, etc. I know it sounds basic, but I'm lucky if a cashier even acknowledges my existence. Most of them don't even give me the total. I have to ask! Plus, I'm with my Mom, whom I'm protective of, like most of us are. I don't like to see her uncomfortable or someone being rude or dismissive to her. If she leaves happy, Im happy. I'm also very generous with tipping if I feel like she was taken care of. And, well, everyone at The Waterloo is as classy as they come! So, get your behinds over there and enjoy yourselves! Plus..... they have...

Have not been to the Waterloo for many years. Went this Saturday night. 5/7/22. The waitresses were the only clean looking staff in the restaurant. The cheese sticks were fried to hollow inside, 4 sticks 6 bucks. Little ,tiny, cheese sticks with 1 tablespoon of marinara. We buy the same ones from Aldis. Unimpressed. A rip off. This kind of practice, of shorting food and charging more than food is worth, is going get the doors closed for good on this "place"...I wouldn't call it a "restaurant". The cook staff and bussers were just scuzzy looking. Portions were small, fish was good. What was that creamy ,lumpy, salad dressing? Still wondering...don't want to know. Bill was 70 BUCKS PLUS TIP for 3 adults. 2 ice waters ,1 soda. AND, my husband was feeling ill by the time we got home. He got the "filet".There was a staff medical emergency which trumped the night. Sadly, it just was NOT worth the trip. Won't be going back to Waterloo.Goodbye Waterloo. Rest well. CAN NOT and WILL NOT recommend. A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY. UPDATE: It seems the “owner” has notated my comment. It also seems the response from “owner” is a cut-and-paste, cookie cutter entry. Not ONCE has this “owner” offered a refund or due-bill for patrons good money spent on fodder. The crew is motley, scary to look at, grungy and unkempt, establishment not particularly clean. The prices are NOT comparable to other restaurants... at all! 4 cheese sticks and 1teaspoon of marinara DOES NOT EQUATE TO 6 bucks!!!! You are ripping folks off. Your doors will not be open much longer. Whoever the “owner” is, maybe heed some of the reviews! I wonder how often the health department drops in? Folks... SPEND YOUR MONEY AT A REAL RESTAURANT! Run... do NOT walk!!! I love how the blurb by “owner” says,”we fell short. Try us again.” HELL TO THE NO! YOU didn’t even remotely register the level. Try you again?? I would rather be cut open alive....

For our wedding John and his team at Waterloo were the cherry on top, LITERALLY!

First they hosted our rehearsal dinner at the restaurant. They accommodated for over 30 people & welcomed everyone with a smile! Such a fun loving atmosphere bustles through the restaurant! Even with our big group everything ran smoothly, tasted great and the servers kept things looking clean & presentable!!

For our wedding we chose a buffet style dinner: Served Salad; Classic pear and poached peach salad on greens. This tasted like sunshine. Beef Roast Medallions (Roasted rib of beef), pasta with red sauce, Chardonnay Chicken, Redskin roasted Potato, & Green Beans Almandine. They also did our cocktail hour apps!!! If you go with their dessert table we suggest their peanut butter AND chocolate chip cookies; if you are a chocolate lover their brownies are TO DIE FOR!! Everything was so delicious, I wish I could suggest one thing but I can’t because it was all so tasty, well prepared & presented beautifully!!!

We had over 200 guests and everyone raved about the positive energy & great service!

Along with the physical service, they also provided all cutlery, plates, napkins, glasses & entire splash bar including: garnishes, mixers, coffee, water etc.

They managed our pre-ceremony cocktail hour, cocktail hour & full bar. We never heard about slow or rude service; all of our guests were laughing & smiling the entire time!
