Charleys Cheesesteaks and Wings — Restaurant in Akron

I was very excited to see a stand-alone Charleys open, as it was a favorite mall treat of mine from years ago. I downloaded the app and started to place my order. The app is very easy to use. When I went to check out, drive-thru was unavailable, as was curbside pickup, so I just opted for inside pickup. It was 4:45 on a Friday and the drive-thru was packed. The inside was packed. There were lots of staff working and orders being bagged very quickly. After I place the order on the app I probably waited 25 minutes inside for my order. Everyone that I encountered was very polite and efficient, despite the hectic atmosphere. I ordered a regular sized Philly cheesesteak with extra toppings. My son ordered a small buffalo chicken and ultimate fries. Some of the toppings that I requested were missing from my cheesesteak. I had ordered my son's sandwich with no vegetables yet it came with tons of lettuce. So the take-home wasn't starting off very good. I took a bite and realized that it seemed like the meat has zero seasoning. It is just plain..zero flavor. I was very disappointed with the quality of the meat. The bread was delicious. The toppings were fresh but the main star of the show of a cheesesteak is the steak and this was seriously underwhelming. My son enjoyed his Buffalo chicken sub because, in his words, the chicken is "super dry" but that's the way he likes it. So as exciting as it is to have a stand-alone Charlie's cheesesteak it doesn't seem to live up to my memories. Maybe this is just growing pains or because it's a new business, but I would hope that they would seriously take a look at these reviews because I don't think I'm the only person that commented on the flavor of the meat. My husband and I waited forever for this place to open. We always ate at the Charleys at the Atlanta Airport. We have always loved this place so we were excited to have one 5 minutes from the house. The place was very busy at 3:30 pm on Saturday afternoon. We ordered our food my husband ordered the chicken Philly. I ordered the 3 cheese bacon steak sandwich. It comes with mayo, lettuce, tomato and pickles. I asked for no mayo or lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. The lady who took our order was obviously overwhelmed by all of the crowd and the chaos behind the counter. It was a zoo at that time. I told her three times how I wanted it. We looked at the ticket and she didn't have my order right. I couldn't get near the counter again. I am a small senior citizen. When they called our number I told my husband to check my steak and it had everything on it. My husband blocked for me and got me back to the counter where I explained to the manager the problem. He remade my sandwich. The bacon was crispy, lots of cheese and chopped steak. It was delicious. My husband loved the chicken Philly. Lots of chicken and Veggies. Three sizes 4, 8, 12, inches. We both bought an 8 inch. Cost was 20.08. Well worth it. Please be kind and patient with the employees. Everyone is new and trying to do their best in trying conditions. They have the counter the drive through and all the door dash and grub hub people. They also have delivery. Once they get all of kinks out and everyone behind the counter is comfortable with the job it will go smoothly. Good value...

Don't even know where to start. First piece of advice...save your money and keep driving, don't think about stopping here (Waterloo Rd, Akron, Ohio). The food was every adjective of disgusting. How do people like this food? How can food be freshly cooked, yet still luke warm? The fries were NOT done at all. We ordered 4 sandwiches and 2 large fries. The sandwiches looked and tasted lifeless. The bread tastes like cardboard. Not sure this particular set of staff understood English very well and one guy who was "kitchen staff" came from the back and proceeded to wipe sweat from his forehead, the spit out the corners of his mouth and picked eye boogers at the front counter. He then touched a container they thought they were going to put my fries in! I had to tell them those containers needed to be thrown away! This place looked clean on the surface, but the hygiene food handling was a zero! The food is a zero...thankfully I had a coupon! This place is a one and done for me and I do not recommend...
