Northside Speakeasy is the bar that you picture as a child. Small, quaint, and clean. I cannot rave enough about this place - I feel like it needs added to evetyones' bucket list.
The bartenders. They are the friendliest people I have met, and that's going back several lives. They aren't just friends though, they preform. I'm surprised they're also not playing an instrument while they work. You'll see several glasses flipped, poured from crazy distances, and a bit of fire each night. I cannot imagine asking any more of a bartender while still calling them bartenders. These people are genuine performers. It's at the point where the counter catching on fire hardly raises eyebrows from the regulars. Give them all of your tips.
The environment. This place leaves YOU in control of your surroundings so any complaints you have are on you. You sit down at a booth and you control how dim your lighting gets, how loud your music gets, and the light to attract your bartender. Outside of the stuff you control - you wouldn't want to control it. It's perfect. Old tube lighting and work feels like you're in a genuine speakeasy, except with all of the new age OSHA rules. Clean, safe, debonair.
Drinks. Every drink my party shared was the best one yet. It'll run you $10-15 for the legit cocktails, but every single drink was worth so much more than that. The little designs you get at your morning Starbucks are garbage. This place will mix you some coffee liquor and design the froth into a glass that'll make you divorce Starbucks and stop paying child support. It's out of principle, not malice. That child support could be going to true talent, after all. I can't even give you a recommendation, because every drink was ambrosia and designed by Michael Angelo himself.
Try this place out, I guarantee you won't go just once. It'll become the ace up your sleeve that you will show all of your true...
Read moreExcellent cocktails. Bar staff was awesome. The tricks to entering are really cool and the best part is that the guests inside are watching you try to enter on video and cheering you on. It builds a great way for the whole bar to chat and interact with each other which is very fun in this type of setting. Extremely small and intimate - seating maybe for 20 people. Very dark and very period decor. This theme is well executed and we had a terrific time. Great cocktails but no food makes it tough to stay long (but that might be the point!). Cocktails are not cheap but they give you what...
Read moreA fantastic little place, intimate and nicely decorated. Visited for the first time last night, and thankfully had a guide, as you need to be a little clever and inquisitive to get in! After entering the exterior door, one is faced with a small lobby and this closed newsstand front. Inside is swanky and private, with exposed brick and gorgeous tin ceilings, which really goes a long way to whisking one back in time to a covert prohibition-era night out among friends. Bartenders were fast, friendly and knowledgeable; drink list is vast and varied, pictured below. Definitely going...
