It was a great train ride but on the wrong train. You dont get much information from the web site so we got tickets for what i will call the short ride which is two hours round-trip there and back with no stops so it was a disapointment since we was hopeing on be able to stop, shop. And eat it seems to be another train that has that kind of ride and again i did not see that on the web site, the information i got from the train engineer and oh. Btw the volunteers are all so nice and helpfull so now we will go again knowing what i know to get the right train. Now for the train it really could use a good cleaning. It is what you expect from the time period of the cars but they are just dirty not shiney and clean and the bathroom just smelled of urine. Every csr is different and the temperatures went from hot to cold from car to car but was in the comfort range and each car had differant smells to them but was not a clean smell. The snack car to me seemed disorganized and just laid out wrong the creates a human traffic jam. They have hot dogs that i did not see anyone eating so i did not order one and they had fresh popcorn but only one small machine that could not keep up so you had to wait in the paid line probally a good 30 minutes to get your corn. The coffie was good and the rest of what they had was bottles of drinks and bags of snacks. They had beer and wine but you have to wait till 1 pm on Sundays because of Ohio state laws and we was at the end of the ride by then. It was quite busy all the cars was full but the volunteers made everything go smoothly. Wasn't a bad day just not exactly what I wanted so i will try again another day

It was a fun time with friends. This was the Ales on Rails excursion. Hoppin' Frog Brewery had a tasting of four of their beers. All were tasty, and the Hoppin' Frog host had information and stories to go along with each beer. The CVSR crew were excellent. They were friendly and made the trip more enjoyable. The train starts in Akron and travels to Boston Mills and then returns. The trip takes about two hours. The only negative and the reason for 4 stars is that per the CVSR website, we are supposed to "be treated to a variety of light appetizers all expertly paired with your beer selection." That did not happen. Instead, we received a box of chips and empanadas at the beginning of the trip, and that was all. Some in our group complained that the chips they received were stale. We were told by a CVSR representative that we would get a break on the ticket price credited to our account. We will see. All in all, an enjoyable experience.

We went on the Polar Express with our kids on 11/30. The train car we rode in was in pretty rough shape with broken seats and a pretty gross bathroom. The worst part of the experience was having windows you could barely see out of due to being so dirty from salt spray and dirt. That made for a terrible experience. The volunteers try their best to entertain the kids singing Christmas carols and writing letters to Santa. They also pass out hot (warm) chocolate and cookies. The ride is a little long with nothing to see out of the dirty windows, so you kinda have to entertain yourself at times. When you arrive in the Northpole, you pass by many waving volunteers dressed in Christmas outfits and Christmas light decorations. On the way back to the train station, Santa gets on board and takes pictures with everyone. I'm pretty disappointed in the whole experience for the amount of money it costs. It could really be improved with cleaning and a little money fixing the broken and torn seats.

Definitely an experience to remember. Tickets for all 4 in the most basic car were nearly $100. I was very surprised at how completely empty other cars and even ours was. Our car was kinda smelly like old... the car was clean just smelled old and musty. The other cars we walked through didn't smell as bad as ours. It was an enjoyable ride overall. We made our way up to the concession car and got some popcorn and snacks. Not too many fall leaves early October but still good views and it was fun waving to cars and people along the trails. Masks are 'mandatory' but not strictly enforced which was good because we were clearly distant from other riders. It would be easy to take some light snacks and beverages even though it's 'prohibited'. Really just all about the experience and a good experience overall. Made for a great afternoon day.

Dome seats must be purchased early, they sell out fast online, for the best view. Buy side by side seating because it's a really tight fit! Comfortable seating is in the car with the light blue upholstery, look at the website! There's nothing to do at the stops and very little time, given that it's a ride alongside Akron's giant water treatment pipes between a hillside, they should have a little cafe on the line or a shop to get off for 30 minutes, stretch your legs and look around or something?! They do stop to pick up cyclists riding on the trail, so you wait for them at one point so why not add things for people riding the train? The majority of the seating is really old, and torn. I know it's an old train but through the Rails with Trails federal program they could really spruce this up! Do better Akron!!!

Wonderful little trip. The ride was comfortable, the staff are knowledgeable and the concession prices are out of this world expensive, LOL! There were 8 of us on the train, all family members who hadn’t seen each other in a significant amount of time so the train ride was great way to get everyone together. We didn’t really engage much in the scenery, as we were all too preoccupied with one another. Lovely afternoon ! I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the restrooms on the train. Hilariously small area similar to an airplane toilet but very functional and very much appreciated. In the 2 hours on the train, I think most of us had to use the facilities and glad we didn’t have to hold it in until we got back to the station. Haha. Also, they were very clean !! Thanks!
