Carmelita's — Restaurant in Alamo

First, the pros. The Caldo de Res was good. Very flavorful. And the tostadas were super crunchy. The food didn’t take too long either.

For the cons, I have more. We didn’t have to be waited on, cause we ordered to go. However, the lady that took our order wasn’t the kindest. We also specifically asked for no avocado or guacamole on the tostadas. They told us it didn’t come with either of them on it. But, our order had A LOT of avocado on top of our tostadas. The beans on the tostadas were runny and watery for some reason. The rice was terrible, to the point that it wasn’t even fully cooked, or it was old. Because there were a lot of hard pieces in it, and it was overall inedible. They provided no utensils or napkins, even though both were requested. We originally asked for the cup of Caldo that it has advertised on their menu, and they told us they don’t have and have never carried the cup. And our bill came out more expensive than what the menu showed. Not by a whole lot, but if you had your last $10 here, you’d prolly have to have a few extra dollars on you just in case it isn’t the price they show on the menus, and no, the tickets do not show the prices they charged.

Fresh homemade flour tortillas, very fresh and calming atmosphere and the owner on sight, and a very beautiful ❤️ and polite waitress 😁, customer service is quick and the food is very excellent! I've been looking for the best syncronizada in the RGV and it's crazy to me to find it in a very small and hard to spot restaurant in the middle of a Little Caesars and Cricket store. Never have I ever thought I would find a place like this, many customers are so regulars that the owners and the waitresses know their names by sight. It's very affordable and there is refills on drinks, I had about 5 diet Cokes 🤣 the flour tortillas are not store bought! You can easily tell when flour tortillas are store bought but not this place the fajitas are all meat no fat on them, no rubber fajitas and the avocado is so fresh and not all hard and unripe like most restaurants. I declare this Carmelita's restaurant as my new favorite place to eat! A quick shout out to the best waitress I've ever met with the most excellent customer service , she attended us and made sure we had everything we ever wanted in a timely fashion! Thank you Amanda! beware !!!! this restaurant charges fraudently.next time you dine there ,take a picture of the price of the food that you order ,as we have been defrauded at least twice already .when i confronted the cashier ,she claimed that i was shown the old menu by the waitress ,who served us .when i asked her to show me new menu ,the price for the food we ordered was $7.25,but she attempted to charged us 7.99 .she became very irate and showed her uneducated character .few weeks back,we ordered their lunch special,which was $6.99 .we were shocked when cashier charged us $8.50 .she said the reg price was $9.99.today ,we checked the reg price on the menu for that food item,it was just $8.50 .its likely they're duping all their customers by $1-2 per person .lets say they have a hundred diners daily,cumulatively ,thats a lot of easy money for them.they advertised that they're christian business ,that's a camouflage ,for their evil deeds! on the other hand, food was tasty and server was attentive ,when we approached the uneducated cashier...
