Nestled discreetly between 9th St and Hwy 83 in Alamo, I'm sure I passed by the Icehouse many a time without knowing of it's existance due to its underwhelming (keyword) signage. Walking to the bar (ladies take note, the parking lot is not paved and the gravel is very loose, so be careful when wearing high heels) it looks like many nondescript other warehouses that line most of the old highway. it seems to ever designed the bar wasn't sure in what direction to go, tables made of barrels (uncomfortable on ones knees and the unfinished barrels will stain your pants), picnic benches (too short and uncomfortable), and plastic tables (?) are design de rigour gone spastic. The crowd is casual, I repeat.. casual. They have a decent, largeish, outside area with a stage - but strangely lacking in live music. The wait service and bartending is sporadic at best but given that it's a new bar, I'll make an allowance. what is unforgivable are the mixed drinks, they contain little to no liquor. ergo, a ramen diet soda tastes like watered down diet soda. I've been there several times and I've been disappointed with the service, the quality of their mixed drinks, and the lack of live bands. perhaps if they added liquor to her drinks I would catch a buzz and be happier and write a better review, alas, that is not the case. The place has potential, but management seems to be lacking in working out its kinks to allow the bar to come into fruition and be a place that is consistently awesome. I'll go back in about a month and see if banks have improved and and edit my review...
Read moreFirst time at this place this past Sunday and it was the worst experience ever. Place looks great but management is another thing. My daughter was a waiter there & manager Leslie was very unprofessional, regardless of who I am related to I expect to be treated as a customer not let what ever high school beef you have going on with the employee get in the way of you doing your job and treating everyone the same. Two employees along with the manager would be talking and laughing and made it a point to look out way the environment felt very hostile. My daughter mentioned really good things about this place so finally decided to give it a try without knowing what I was walking into I felt like I was at a high school with a bunch of kids. I believe upper management need to fix that before it happens to someone else. I asked for a direct number a general manager her knowing they have an office and location is closed she gave me the restaurant number mentioned to speak to Anthony but wrote Albert on the paper. She went to check every table to make sure everything was ok but our table that is poor management skills there everyone that walks into to place should be treated...
Read moreNice set up,drinks are good but terribly disappointed with their food service. After both my husband and I placed our food order, waitress comes back to let us know that my choice of plate is not being served that night. I look over menu again and decide on a second choice, waitress leaves to put in my order. Within a couple of minutes comes back to let us know kitchen is now closed so my order will not be prepared, mind you my husband's order would. I was upset because prior to going I had inquired about their kitchen hours and was told kitchen closed at midnight. Waitress let's us know that kitchen closed due to a party that was taking place there and the manager decided to close the kitchen to patrons not with the party. Surprisingly about an hour and half of hanging out the waitress come to tell us kitchen is now open. Since I had not had dinner, I decided to just order a simple basket of chicken tenders and fries. OF COURSE, fries were cold and chicken was over fried and burned. As far as music, was good but they need more variety of music during breaks. Bad management is...
