Sounds like the Manager copies and pasteâs a standard apology every time they receive a complaint without even personalising a competent individual reply. I guess the hotel is in the unique position near the airport and takes advantage of this position and can get away with these extortionate prices and lousy service and standards
We were one night in this hotel, before a flight we had the day after. The location was good. We arrived in the evening after a long drive from Denali park. The staff at the reception were unpleasant, unaccountable and not kind. They didn't help. When we asked for an extra duvet, they said that there is limit of one duvet for one bad. No housekeeping at the evening as they work until 15:00 only. The pool was out of order. We left the room at 05:00 am, so we couldn't have breakfast. Thay offered a battle of water and a granola snack. We were very disappointed.
Before I checked in, I wanted to make sure the pool was going to be open because it had a sign on it, I had asked the manager if it would be open by the time of check in, she assured us it would be. I even asked if it wasn't going to be, we would get a different hotel as that was the reasoning for renting. If it wasn't would we get a discount of some sort. She assured us again it wouldn8be available after 3. We checked in to find out the pool would not be opening for the evening . I was not happy . Today I went in to talk to the manager, he was very rude. Said there was nothing he could do and that another guest ruined it for everyone else. And walked away. The breakfast lady was amazing. The front desk staff was not happy as they said with the white ladies response. Then to have another rude manager was highly disappointed!!! Really he should have said sorry mam, we will comp you another night. Nothing but rude!!! Are all your staff this way?!!! I will be letting everyone know what happened while I was there. I am the daughter of the world's most famous dog musher. I am in alot of corporations. They will all find out about this. I feel like she lied just to get us to get the room. Well she got me!!!
Price gouged big time. The TV is an old channel changer for crying out loud. 60 dollar a night value, paid 400 for 2 beds. This is normal in Alaska in the summer I guess? Do not like this state.
This place doesn't rent to local residents with an anchorage address... really stressful when your daughter comes into town and need a place to stay with her and we can't stay... they should put that on there website...
Book a room so the kids could swim and have a little stay cation, hotel waited until we had less than a week before our stay before calling me and canceling the reservation because we live locally. I will be sure to avoid this company and any affiliate companies from here on out.
Poor experience at this hotel. Requested late check out on the day off and was only able to accommodate 1 hour (instead of 2 hours, which is a provided benefit through the Choice Rewards Program as a status holder). Unfortunately, 11:30am hits and we get a phone call asking when we will be out, only to discover their own notes a second later. Then another phone call again 5 mins later. The worst thing was housekeeping (without knocking) enters our room at 11:40am which is completely unacceptable. Terrible communication and service by the staff.
I recently had the worst traveling experience ever with this hotel, and I have travelled a lot. My boyfriend and I had made a reservation at this hotel earlier in the day, and arrived around 2 AM after a long journey from Bellingham, Washington. Iâm originally from Canada, while my boyfriend is originally from Alaska but had recently moved to Bellingham after a sudden and tragic passing in his family.    Read moreI recently had the worst traveling experience ever with this hotel, and I have travelled a lot. We were both exhausted from our travels and just wanted a place to rest.
When we arrived at the hotel, we were met by the front desk worker, Erica. Right from the start, the interaction was off-putting. Erica immediately asked for our ID and credit card without offering a greeting or even a smile. This abruptness caught us off guard, especially given the late hour and our fatigue.
After a brief moment, Erica informed us that we were not allowed to stay at the hotel because my boyfriend had an Alaska ID. She stated that they do not allow Alaskan residents to stay there, which was completely surprising to us. We were shocked that this restriction wasnât mentioned anywhere during the booking process. My boyfriend tried to explain that he no longer lived in Alaska, pointing out our four bags of luggage and our late-night check-in as evidence. He had just moved after the unfortunate passing in his family, and we were simply looking for a place to rest.
Erica, however, was dismissive. She told my boyfriend that she didnât care about his situation and insisted that he should have changed his license. Frustrated, I showed my Canadian passport and asked if I could book the room under my name, as it was now 2 AM, freezing outside, and we were genuinely worried about finding another hotel at such a late hour. Yet again, Erica denied our request, firmly stating that because his ID was from Alaska, she could not give us a room.
After being told to leave once more, we stepped outside into the cold, desperately trying to call other hotels to find accommodation. At this point, we were approached by a belligerent woman who initially thought we were Erica, the front desk worker. Once she realized we werenât, she came over to discuss our situation. She began to rant about how it wasnât her fault or the hotelâs and insisted we move away from the doorâat this point, she even pushed my boyfriend away from the entrance.
We repeatedly asked her to leave us alone, explaining that we were just trying to find a place to stay since it was now 2:30 AM. Instead of backing off, she continued to harass us, using derogatory terms and even threatening to slap me across the face. At one point, she claimed to be from Alaska and mentioned she had two kids upstairs in the hotel. This was confusing, as it raised questions about why she was allowed to stay while we were denied.
As her threats increased, we decided to call the police to get her to walk away and stop her aggressive behaviour. As soon as she realized who we were calling, she hurried back inside and hid around the front desk area with Erica. The entire situation was not only frustrating but also genuinely scary.
Overall, our experience at this hotel was horrible. The lack of customer service, combined with the intimidating encounter outside, left us feeling unsettled and distressed. We ended up having to call around outside in the cold, looking for another hotel at that hour -- shout-out to Home2Stay they were AMAZING and accommodating.
I will not only never stay at this Comfort Suites again when visiting my boyfriend's family, but I will also avoid any Comfort Suites in the future. Itâs unacceptable to treat guests this way, and I hope others can learn from our...
