I am not one to ever leave a negative review but I feel compelled regarding this property. I have visited Anchorage with my family for many years. I was looking to change up hotels, and find one with a suite that would provide a table and living room area. My mother is confined to a wheelchair, so space is important to us. I reviewed the website and room types for the Coast Inn, and decided on a Junior Suite. The website showed grand views of Lake Hood and spacious rooms. Upon check in, we discovered all Junior Suites were located on the second floor, up flights of stairs, with no elevators. This was not reflected on the website when I booked, or I would have selected a different property. Our only choice was to take a standard room, with no reduction in cost. We also discovered upon check in there are no views as advertised of Lake Hood. We decided to suck it up, as we were only staying one night. However, when we got to the assigned room, we found long black hairs all over the bedspread and on the back of the bathroom door. In addition, the toilet did not flush properly. We decided to search for a different property, and ended up at the Lakefront down the road. While we still were unable to secure a suite, the Lakefront is clean and tidy, with an elevator for handicap guests. I'm so disappointed, the Coast Inn looked so nice on the website. I understand how cancellation policies and refunds work, but I can't help but feel somewhat duped into paying for a room that was not as advertised and that we could not access on the 2nd floor. If you are reading this review, please take it from me- I am a seasoned traveler and it has been a long time since I have found a property unacceptable, and the Coast Inn is...
Read morePeople working at the front desk are rude and unaccommodating.
We arrived early at hotel for a 6 am flight the next morning. They had our room ready early but didn't want to let us check in early. Customer service could have been better.
I'll update my review after I experience the actual room. This review is for the service at the front desk.
Zero stars for service.
Room was comfortable and spacious. I found the bed comfortable. Bathroom was good size. Hotel does not have an elevator.
Resturant was fantastic. Jen in restaurant was a great waitress.
Location perfect. Easy access to the airport and free shuttle.
My issues was the non accommodating attitude from the rude front desk worker named Maggie who rolled her eyes, ignored me and was more interested in just saying NO and carrying on her personal conversations. When I said I was unsatisfied with her response she cop'd out and reminded me that she doesn't own the hotel.
Yet they bended the rules and let others check in early. But blatantly told me no. Unless I was to pay another $50. Even though room had been. Ready for hours. It's little things to make people's experiences better. They could do better at front desk and by reviewing this policy.
Note I had two rooms booked and to get my family out of the lobby and all our bags I paid $50 for the first room at 10am. I wasn't asking for a huge Bend in policy I wanted in the room at 2:15. She said no and at 2;20 was checking in two other guest when I asked she then said she would check me in and had...
Read moreWay overpriced for what we received. Not to mention very poor service when it came to not living up to what they told us. Ex: We are currently spending the night here and has been not good service. We specifically called ahead of time to make sure that they had a pack and play/crib that we could have. They said yes and didn’t mention any first come first serve or anything. Therefore we did not plan to bring one for our 1 of our 3 girls. Got here and they said sorry we don’t have any available! What?!? This made it rough because we arrived right at the time we needed it. That’s why we called ahead. We could have arranged one healer otherwise. This made it very difficult for us in a time for us right before leaving on a long trip where we expected better sleep as a family. When I expressed my disappointment and frustration they basically dismissed it and didn’t take ownership of this mistake and then didn’t even offer a discount when asked about this. They simply said you’ll just have to talk to Expedia since that is who you booked through. This is not ok for an already overpriced $300+/night small room. A hotel should own up to their mistakes rather than try to push them off on a third party. Could have been in much fancier hotels for way cheaper than his and received much better service and amenities. Very disappointing and not fun. Do not recommend...
